The middle and upper classes have been the ones out there pushing for decriminalization and legalization measures, and they have also tried to demolish the cultural taboo against smoking pot. But they themselves have chosen not to partake very much. Which is not surprising. Middle-class men and women who have jobs and families know that this is not a habit they want to take up with any regularity because it will interfere with their ability to do their jobs and take care of their families.
But the poor, who already have a hard time holding down jobs and taking care of their families, are more frequently using a drug that makes it harder for them to focus, to remember things and to behave responsibly.

In fact, the typical user is much more likely to be someone at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder, whose daily life is driven, at least in part, by the question of how and where to get more marijuana. Just consider the cost. Almost a third of users are spending a tenth of their income on marijuana. And 15 percent of users spend nearly a quarter of their income to purchase the drug. The poor have not only become the heaviest users, but their use is making them poorer.
To all the middle-class professionals out there reading this: Do you know anyone who spends a quarter of their income on pot? Of course not. But these are the people our policies and attitudes are affecting.

What irks me are the news stories about some sick child that cannot get their medical marijuana in some states and will cause them to move.
#1. If your child needs it then move.
#2. If your child needs it just go buy some. Prosecutors and cops aren’t out there to deny this type of use.
There were quite a few articles about the increase of ER visits for children who have ingested pot since the substance was made legal. The woman from Colorado that made these observations agreed that the government was never going to make pot illegal again because they were too fond of the new found tax revenue.
Glad to hear there are exceptions to the typical arrogant recreational pothead, my dear brother in Christ! Go Trump!
“And you just ignored what I said about young kids getting onto pot because their parents do it.”
Do you think you can identify pot-smoking parents without error?
I assure you that is not necessarily true.
It is true, however, that many liberals are sympathetic to pot smoking because it is fashionable to them, just as LGBTQ causes are until it comes to their sister's bathroom. That's not the same thing.
Yes
“They clarified that these codes do not prove that cannabis exposure was the main reason a patient was treated at the hospital.
“Use of these codes does not mean that the visit is motivated by marijuana exposure but simply that it is a possibility,” the study authors said.”
MADD used to pull that crap, too. A man who has had one beer is rear-ended by a completely sober driver while waiting at a stop light. Bam, another “alcohol-related” accident.
Here, it looks like anyone who comes in with a detectable THC level is being counted as a “marijuana-related” case, even where the marijuana was totally unrelated.
Soros, who declined to comment for this story, writes that the drug problem as primarily a criminal problem is a misconception and that eradicating the drug problem is a false idea.http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/issues/1996-12-12A drug-free America is simply not possible. You can discourage the use of drugs, you can forbid the use of drugs, you can treat people who are addicted to drugs, but you cannot eradicate drugs.
So what would he do?
I would establish a strictly controlled distribution network through which I would make most drugs, excluding the most dangerous ones like crack, legally available, he writes. Initially, I would keep the prices low enough to destroy the drug trade. Once that objective was obtained, I would keep raising the prices, very much like an excise duty on cigarettes, but I would make an exception for registered addicts in order to discourage crime.
Generally the kids openly speak of it, and that’s how I know. It also helps when dad shows up stoned, an hour late for the meeting, wearing a t-shirt with a big pot leaf on it.
Epistemological relativism is also a characteristic of the radical socialist left (e.g., equating marijuana with alcohol, cigarettes, etc.).
I would think it likely that some are flying under the radar.
The framework of our Constitution and Bill of Rights is the FFs' attempt at republican self-governance that both honors the Father by being in harmony with His Law, and recognizes each individual's right to use their God-given free will to safely explore and be who and what the Father created.
Denying individuals their free will and the right to be what God created is a recipe for disaster that the FFs tried to avoid.
Human nature is what it is and a society's free will denying attempts to regulate and control human nature naturally create as many problems as they solve, however well intended.
These days, I tend to think that's the point and is why there is a community agitator in power over US.
As they say, "the road to hell is paved with" what?
“1. You are more an exception. Not really. I know many folks who are hard working successful people who use cannabis in different ways.”
Non-sequitar.
When I smoked dope I was very successful professionally. Has nothing to with what I said.
Anyhow, just remember, you can stop and will someday.
“Indeed, the social impact of alcohol is far worse. (paraphrasing another poster in this thread)”
Hippie propaganda from the 60’s.
Who pushed dope smoking on to Americans?
Leftists from the 60’s.
You gave more in common with Allen Ginsburg than Donald Trump if you advocate smoking pot.
Women and minorities hardest hit!
You are just aping what you think you know
I actually lived it
No one to my knowledge has ever overdosed and died on marijuana in any forum
Whereas alcohol
Celebrated by the right per the anti pot cried here kills thousands a year in the USA alone
