Shot one for the first time a few months ago - loved it. If I could afford one, I’d own one.
I would love to. Could someone loan me $800? Until then I’ll just have to stick to my Soviet field artillery, aka my Mosin-Nagant.

I prefer my FN-FAL. But I do have an AR carbine or two. Or three.
Used Glock, M4 and SCAR in vegas. The M4 was great.
Still not sure what a SCAR is.
I prefer the AK. It’s really simple and durable. Ammo is cheap also. A sniper rifle it is not but for urban SHTF protection you can’t beat it. Did I mention they are cheap (or they were)
“cock the trigger”?
Oops.
I paid $525 for a new, in the box, brand-X AR-15.
You mean, one more?
I'm running out of space.
The answer is no, you should not own an AR 15. You should own at least two.
Sure, why not?
Amazingly objective report for a non gun owner but it is Townhall so the author is not a libtard.
In a country as corrupt and degenerate as the former United States, NOT owning an AR is downright foolish.
An AR-15 can perform very well in a variety of missions. It may not be the very BEST weapon for a specific task, but its versatility is hard to beat.
Only with the bumper stock which is legal and makes it fully auto.
At my age, and with eyesight failing, I’m sticking with my Winchester 1300 “Defender” and a variety of pistols. I still have my .22-250 if I can see well enough to reach out and touch someone. I wish there had been “black rifles” around when I was younger.
An AR is OK in town and for close in work but out in the boonies I prefer something in 30.06, they’ll cut through the woods and in the open they have looong legs.
Too late.
And the dude in Florida did not use an AR5.
Is that true? I would think shotguns and .22s would lead.
The AR-15 chambered in 5.56mm/.223 are good starter long rifles for the majority of shooters that just plink at the range. It’s not my first choice for most tasks (hunting, self-defense, long range), but it shoots soft and flies flat.
I have an M&P-15 just for my kids can step up from the .22LR. The wife already moved up to the .30-30 and picked up a .308 last weekend.
