I disconnected my landline years ago and carry only a cellphone. I also never pick up unless I know who’s calling. I carefully maintain my address book so that I link names to the phone numbers of people I want to have contact with. Otherwise the call is shunted to voice mail. I may or may not get back to you but if I do, I create a new address book entry for that number. If you don’t leave a voice mail I definitely won’t get back to you. Not ever.
I know I am not alone.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, I have still have a land line as well as my cell phone. It is not an exaggeration to say the land-line rings 3-10 times a day with unfamiliar numbers. I no longer answer. If it is someone who needs to speak with me, they generally leave a message, but the majority are simply intrusions worthy of ignoring.
