Dont look back. Keep your eye to the future. Dont let the enemy define the terms of battle.
Trump is defining the terms of battle. You will notice that he did NOT make his admission during any particular controversy, and was not specific in what he might have said differently. He also implied that this happens sometimes necessarily if you want honesty, and who doesn't want honesty? He gets to be a big man without admitting he said anything that wasn't true.
Someone earlier in the thread pointed out that this makes it much harder for HRC to go after Trump in certain ways without appearing to be a hypocrite.
Politics in competitive races is not usually just a guy pulls a gun, you pull a bigger and faster gun. It is more like a tactical setting where you might get to make the battle happen where you want it to, but even the nest available location will have features that your enemy will try to exploit. Your job is to minimize that exposure while striking at the enemies weaknesses in the same setting, and that is not always a straight on attack. It is often in anticipating the manner of the enemy's attack.

Exactly, He knew CNN would top bill his “regret” comment. He baited them. Most in America feel better about a man that can see an error and admit it. This will bring in many that were on the fence about Trump, I think it is a brilliant move and changes the tone of the election.
