A hundred years ago, Muslims were furious over an immigration bill whose origins lay with advocacy by a headstrong and loudmouthed Republican in the White House. The anti-immigration bill offended the Ottoman Empire, the rotting Caliphate of Islam soon to be defeated at the hands of America and the West, by banning the entry of all polygamists, or persons who admit their belief in the practice of polygamy.

They need to be kept out, and those who are here need to be sent back.

We should ban entry to all those who believe in a legal system that punishes apostasy and blasphemy with death. Oh wait, that would ban all Muslims. What a shame.

Whenever my humility level seems not what it should be, perusing a typical week of Greenfield's output puts things right back in perspective.

Thus it always is. When you close your eyes to one evil, you come to accept them all.

Wasn’t this the same move that got the Mormons to officially drop polygamy?

Executive power can ban anyone from entering the country for just about any reason that doesn not sync up with the laws of our country.
Including wanting to have your own govt and court system here in stead of ours (Sharia).
:moslem position on marriage.
:moslem position on slavery.
its not a set in stone rule and can be changed to fit the situation.
Not denouncing violence in the name of Jihad? BANNED.
Not denouncing the verses in the Qouran that call for the slaughter of innocents? BANNED.
Not denouncing Taqyia as a way of life? BANNED.

If I’m not mistaken, obama made the part about serving in the military optional. I’m not sure about the details but I’ll see if I can find a link.

Sharia law is incompatible with the Constitution and laws of the United States of America. Yet a Muslim can take the oath, because taqiyya requires that they lie to the Infidel for the benefit of Islam.

Mormons actually banned the practice in 1890, though I believe there were some grandfather clauses to protect existing marriages.
Utah was admitted as a state in 1896 and there were some high profile hearings over seating the first member of their faith.
Look up "Smoot hearings" for some interesting grist. Long story short is that the senator leading the fight against seating Senator Smoot had the morals of Ted Kennedy and the fight collapsed when another senator exclaimed "If this body has a monogamist who doesn't monog, I don't see why we can't seat a polygamist who doesn't polyig!"

It would be a start, but there’s a fundamental problem with the approach. To anyone who really believes in Sharia, lying to an infidel to advance Islam is perfectly acceptable, even laudable.

We need to block muslims from coming here. Too much money at stake. Churches, some, are getting fat by bringing these people in.

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote against polygamy and outlined perverse incentives involved with the practice... some similar to ‘fatherless communities’ and problems of ‘useless men’... It’s wasn’t just ‘Muslims’... it was the dreadful social concept - - and it including Mormons.

Actually, Teddy was a progressive and a participant in the process of unwinding America. In his era, progressives got the income tax, direct election of senators and the right of women to vote, all important to where we are today. When Taft turned out to be conservative instead of a progressive Republican, Teddy formed a third party and ran against him (reminiscent of the nevertrumpers), which gave us Woodrow Wilson and progressive Democrat rule. Teddy's wing lives on in the GOPe.
In his era, you could be progressive and still nationalist. Progressivism eventually led to globalism, but it took time. Roosevelt got the ball rolling.

I do believe they did change it.
The problem is, with muslims, the concept of Taqiyya which allows them to lie, cheat, or deceive with no moral ramification if it is necessary or needed to advance the cause of Islam.
So, an oath means nothing anyway.
