I think the real question should be what was the cause of the initial ignition. If the hydrogen was ignited first, then I would solely blame the hydrogen however if the ignition source turned out to be the thermite coating then perhaps that was the only reason that the Hindenburg burned in the first place.

From any high-school science class one can learn that hydrogen is highly flammable and the German engineers knew that and took extensive precautions to prevent the hydrogen from igniting. I think a better test would have held the hydrogen factor constant.

Oh by the way I think these white elephants are one of the biggest and most absurd wastes of taxpayer dollars that will get more people killed then produce substantial value. Right up there with windmills and electric cars in my book.
