NEW YORK Donald Trump is shaking up his campaign's leadership amid flagging poll numbers, NBC News has learned.
Kellyanne Conway already a senior adviser to the campaign told NBC News she has been promoted to the role of campaign manager. She confirmed that Paul Manafort will stay on as campaign chair but said Stephen Bannon, the co-founder of conservative Breitbart News, will come on board as campaign CEO.
The moves were first reported by The Wall Street Journal and mark yet another round of internal shakeups for a campaign that seems to be struggling to find consistent footing.
I want to win," Trump told the newspaper. "That's why I'm bringing on fantastic people who know how to win and love to win."
The Trump campaign parted ways with controversial campaign manager Corey Lewandowski after the primaries ended, citing a new phase of the campaign.
Manafort had been unofficially filling the role of campaign manager after Lewandowski's departure, but himself has been the subject of controversy amid questions over his ties to ousted Ukrainian Prime Minister Victor Yanukovich.
Trump has been trailing in polls to rival Hillary Clinton, with some Republicans publicly pressuring the Republican National Committee to abandon Trump's bid and instead focus on down ballot races.
The latest NBC News / SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll showed Clinton leading Trump by 9 points, 50 percent to 41 percent.
Bannon is a populist nationalist like Trump. trump going back to full on outsider which is good..screw the gope
Always thought Conway was pretty cool. Apparently she’s a big deal.
IIRC Paul Manafort was brought on to handle the Convention. He did that quite well, to say the least. In his last couple TV interviews, he seemed a bit off. Maybe the IRS has decided to audit him as they have Roger Stone. Man, I can’t wait until Donald Trump is inaugurated as starts cleaning up this den of vipers! Got Trump/Pence 2016!
Another article about nine points when there are polls showing one or two.
They don't even try to hide their lies anymore - the bigger the better. Trump's filling stadiums and Hillary can't fill a High School Gym or stand up without bracing herself on something, yet she's leading by 9 points?
Yeah, right.
This must really frost Ted’s ass, she was his pollster.
we have two now tightening hard.Zogby and USC..Trump is gaining its irrefutable
Hmmmm, wonder why they are making a change if only down by a few....
Someone needs to take that broom away that Hillary rides around on and use it to sweep out the muck, that’s for sure.
I love the line “tries to find consistent footing.” Have they watched how Hillary falls and stumbles around? These people make my a** hurt.

Yes he will be out the other guys are good though..Boyle, Kassam,Alex Marlow
Now that you say that, I recall her involvement on FNC years ago.
Kellyanne Conway is also a pollster. She won’t allow the MSM to publish their bogus polls without pushback.
Good move to appoint a female campaign manager. Conway is great. She should be a regular on the Sunday shows.
I suspect you’re right about Manafort—he’s the finest delegate wrangler in the business.
He guided the campaign through what could have been a disastrous convention.
Interesting that Boyle and many of the crew were in the office and on the round-table Monday and yesterday. I will be tuning in as the show starts to hear the news there.
True that Bannon will be missed but I am more enthused about his direct input to the campaign as he really has the ear for what is percolating on the ground. We might expect regular visits from him to the show.
Conway is also an excellent choice and I was encouraged when she first joined the campaign.
Manafort ran bob dole’s losing campaign we need winners
The entire Trump Campaign should, always, treat the ongoing race for ‘16 POTUS as if they are behind in the polls by 100% to 0%, and they should, always, be working towards the entire betterment of the Trump Campaign! Am I missing something?
