A 67-year-old woman was charged Sunday in connection with a shooting that seriously wounded a teenager.

Delores Gibson-Council was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting a 14-year-old male Saturday night. She is being held in the Bibb County jail and bond has not been set.

The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of Flamingo Drive, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release.

According to the release, Gibson-Council stated that she was traveling on Flamingo Drive when she encountered a group of juveniles in the roadway. She said she blew her horn, and the victim came to her door and made a threat to her. She then shot him in the abdomen.

He is listed in critical but stable condition.

The release also stated that earlier in the day, Gibson-Council’s home was burglarized, and she believed the 14-year-old was involved. Investigators are looking into that, the release stated.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.

Seems to me the prosecutor needs to re-think the charges.

Jail is the safest place for her right now. Those punks may have paid her a night visit. Of course, knowing she isn’t home they probably messed her house up.

And she’s saying it was a whole group of yutes.

If there were ten of them standing in the street, you know what that means.

Urban bowling!

I like her style. Beep the horn to lure the idiot closer for an easy shot. It’s like curb service.

She should be able to beat this rap.

You don't threaten people. When you do, you should expect backlash.

I hope this woman is able to make a case to the jury that she reasonably felt threatened.

Punks sometimes get what they deserve, and no 14 year old should be threatening anyone, especially an elderly woman.
