The unmitigated hell of it is, you've got 70-75% of the country feeling that we are headed in the wrong direction, that the country is on the “wrong track”, that they are dissatisfied with the status quo, business-as-usual Washington insider politics, yet poll after poll shows Hillary Clinton leading among the majority of the electorate. Well, cripes, who is it of the two (for all practical purposes) choices we have who epitomizes the Washington insider, business as usual, status quo political scene? You talk about the stupidity of Democrat voters or establishment Republicans, how about the stupidity of the “average voter”? They are unhappy about everything, but will pull the lever for someone who is nothing but the status quo Washington power player, driven by ideology coupled with an insatiable thirst for personal power and personal wealth.

70% of Americans do think the country is on the wrong track, but that does not mean 70% of the country wants a conservative change. A large part of that, maybe 25-35% of the nation wants MORE socialism and communism. A lot more. So that 70% is not a monolithic number toward stronger constitutional rights and freedom.
It is pretty well split between conservatives who think we are going too far to the left, and commies who think we are not going far enough to the left.
