Police in Quebec have another maple syrup heist on their hands.
First, there was the Great Maple Syrup Heist of 2011-2012, in which $18 million worth of the sweet sap went missing.
Then, earlier this week, thieves made off with 20,000 litres of Quebec's sweetest export, worth an estimated $150,000, from a storage facility near Montreal's Trudeau airport in Dorval.
abuzz Alfredo Monaco, a vice-president at Mexuscan Cargo, said the thieves broke into the warehouse and stole a shipping container loaded with 20 pallets of Kirkland brand one-litre bottles of syrup.
The syrup was destined for the Japanese market.
The company is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the syrup's recovery.

How much is 20k litres in American..like 10 gallons?
There’s a federation in canada that controls the market and keeps prices high. Apparently, high enough now to capture the attention of thieves. Not exactly, but somewhat comparable to excise taxes causing smuggling.
5,300 gals.
That’ll supply a lot of Cub/Boy Scout Pancake Breakfasts.
Down here in East Tennessee, I boil my own maple syrup
Wasn’t there a similar heist a couple of years ago?
Approximately 5000 gallons.
Each litre is approximately a quart.
Metri-sexual Europeans / Quebec’ers Socialists are burdened by Very high cost of living taxation.
The dears need to use down-sized measurement system in order to fool themselves that things are affordable.
Gas is sold by the litre (quart) and in Canada is currently priced at: $1.05/l ie: $4.00!
Cheese, meat, some produce is sold by the gram, ie: there’s 28 grams to the ounce.
EVERYTHING is So Damn expensive there due to disgusting taxation at every level of production.
But, they do have free health care! /s
RE; “How much is 20k litres in American..like 10 gallons?”
So the high cost of maple syrup isn’t the actual market cost? I assumed it was the true cost due to the amount of sap required to get syrup. It takes a lot of land and labor to produce syrup
Yes. According to the 2nd line of the article.
Check Sunnyvale trailer park.
