Why don’t they react that way to killing ANYBODY, not just a policeman?

I see elitism writ in neon letters here. Shame on being proud of that.

What you suggest is heresy and will get you burned at the stake, or drowned to determine if you really are a witch.

Nope. If a close friend or loved one were taken by a thug I’d empty my weapon into ‘it’ too.

Cops get a bad rap as they should sometimes. But an armed murderous felon who just killed a buddy.....empty your weapon. The law is currently lawless and thugs go free. We are currently in a lawless political era that makes the Wild West look like an English drawing room tea party.

And the answer is to heap the lawlessness higher?

I might sound gosh darned close to a liberal to ask things like this, I know...

But if an offender has holed up behind some trees in an isolated area, why does that position have to be immediately assailed? Other than for the satisfaction of the moment that we showed um who was boss in the quickest time possible?

We have turned into a sound bite, spur of the moment society, I fear. A long view of justice, with the patience required, would need a fear of the Lord, and that is what has been lost. If examining capital cases for decades is the price we pay for not plunging our own souls towards an eternal hell... so be it.

I’m afraid you don’t just sound like a liberal.... I’m afraid you think like one, too. Did you ever read any “Dick Tracy” comics from the 1940s or 50s? What happened to crooks who shot at cops? Look some up on the Internet and tell me Grady Judd has some radical new idea.

Sometimes even the proverbial blind squirrel gets acorns too.

“Conservative” has itself become a caricature. It has embraced things, like the futile frontal assault “war on drugs” that were introduced to America by, yep, the “Progressive” set.

Way back when, it used to mean being Godly which also entailed the patience that God called for.

The very idea of an elite police is itself “Progressive.” Tell me this, did Cowboy Dick ever assemble a posse even ONCE?

I’m not a cop lover and my reasons are personal.
But an armed perp who has committed murder already....considering the fact that he’s A. Alone B. You have a safe background ( no possibility of bullets passing through to damage or injure past the perp). A peace officer should first ask for said perp to surrender, if possible and when the answer is no......take him out before he widows you or a comrade.

You lost me completely with the hell thing. That’s between each individual and his maker and not for the cop out “ he’ll get his in the afterlife “ baloney.

And there is not just an afterlife, there is something that some call instant karma. When we do something wrong, it reflects back on our own souls right here on earth. That also goes for the elite police who reinforce their own eliteness. At the very least, all killing ought to be treated the same, including killing done under questionable circumstances by elite police.

And consider there was, in this situation, a safe foreground too. This was not like a menace sitting picking off passersby was it? And if it was, then why didn’t that explanation come to the foreground rather than being some “back up argument” when the foreground principle was to Specially Treat The Elite Police?

Okay, everybody, step back and take a breath- the sheriff stated it clearly- “if you pull a gun on us, you can expect to be shot-” Meets all the requirements of a lethal force response. You’d do or at least attempt the same if you were confronted by an armed thug - so get over the LEs right to self-defense. Unlike you they go looking for the thug on our behalf. While the lethal force equation is the same for both LE and citizen, the probability of an LEO needing to face such an equation is much higher.

I would that all Chief LEOs would communicate to their public the same message.

Now, on the other hand, in anything other than the above equation, all LEO had better do right all the time, or they will be on the other side of the equation. Tough job, so either do it right or flip burgers somewhere safe.

He learned it from his Buddhist/Hindu mentors. They don’t have everything right, but they are quite square on the existence of a moral universe. So yes, “REALLY.”

How about making this a democratic principle? The problem comes when it is not.

And this was no longer a mandatory self defense situation. The threat had come to a standoff. Nobody was being picked off. Confess it... we have a vengeance situation now. If vengeance cannot wait for the operation of law, then we all are hurt.

If you want real manliness in your war... then no you won’t be a cowboy. Or rather you WILL be like the real cowboy, who always cared for his horse first before himself and did not make a public attention grabbing spectacle out of his yeehaws.

Yes, indeed, we can all Monday-morning QB the whole incident. Anyways, having been there and done that, I can tell you that I trust the guys on the ground in the dynamic situation-that’s a command related requirement.

If you think it vengeance and unlawful, well, I can appreciate that too, however, I dismiss that line of thought as the public good and safety remained at stake. Just when would lethal force be legitimate in this situation, when he took out one or more add’l people? They contained him, they let him know they were not going away, he had a choice. I truly doubt he would have been murdered if he had informed the deputies he was giving up.... He died in a hole resisting the lawful authority we give LEOs. Part of the social compact.

I guess I don’t understand your comment. Sorry. I don’t own a horse nor a cowboy hat. But I have been to war.

I guess your screen name means something too. I choose to refrain from personal insults etc. Peace.
