McConnell: GOP chances to keep Senate are 'very dicey'
Associated Press ^ | Aug 11, 2016 5:02 PM EDT | Bruce Schreiner

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that GOP prospects for keeping control of the Senate after the November elections are “very dicey,” sounding an alarm amid mounting Republican concerns about presidential nominee Donald Trump. […]

Twenty-four GOP-held seats are on the ballot this year, compared with 10 for Democrats, he noted. McConnell was promoted to majority leader two years ago when a Republican surge wrested Senate control from Democrats.

McConnell did not mention Trump as being a drag on Republican down-ballot races, but he chided Trump’s campaign tactics. The Kentucky senator said he hopes Trump “settles down and follows the script.” …

Exactly. What is the difference between the demodogs and the republican’ts?
Not as big a difference as I would like, but one difference is that the Senate Republicans didn't approve Obama's supreme court pick to replace Scalia. Were it a Democrat Senate, we'd be well on our way to the end of the 2nd amendment, and various other tragedies of judicial overreach.

We need to do everything we can to keep the Senate.

Franklin Roosevelt’s rapid conversion from Constitutionalism to the doctrine of unlimited government is an oft-told story. But I am here concerned not so much by the abandonment of states’ rights by the national Democratic Party — an event that occurred some years ago when that party was captured by the socialist ideologues in and about the labor movement — as by the unmistakable tendency of the Republican Party to adopt the same course. […] Thus, the cornerstone of the Republic, our chief bulwark against the encroachment (on) individual freedom by Big Government, is fast disappearing under the piling sands of absolutism.

The Republican Party, to be sure, gives lip service to states’ rights. We often talk about “returning to the states their rightful powers”; the Administration has even gone so far as to sponsor a federal-state conference on the problem. But deeds are what count, and I regret to say that in actual practice, the Republican Party, like the Democratic Party, summons the coercive power of the federal government whenever national leaders conclude that the states are not performing satisfactorily. …

Even with a scenario of Hillary is elected and GOP clings to the Senate with 51. I guarantee 11 GOP Senators will play ball and crossover to confirm the next Justice Ginsberg. They could just refuse anybody that wasn’t Conservative- but that’s not how they role. They capitulate on everything. Well they may insist on a Progressive Communist that is Pro Citizen United. That way they keep gazillion dollars in politics and we get stuck re electing Rinos who work for billionaire globalists-because with Citizen United nobody else can compete with infinite war chests. That will be their victory on confirmation.

I guarantee

Mitch, the Trump Train left the station and you were not aboard. When will the reality sink in? You think your pay to play game will fool us forever?

This is the setup. The GOPe intends to give the Senate back to the Dems just to block Trump and keep the gravy train going.

Well, Mitch, if keeping the Senate means populating it with whiny traitors like you who bend over and let the Dems have their way, nothing lost I say...

While a majority in the Senate is important, I wouldn’t shed a tear for the loss of a McCain, Flake, Collins, Kirk, etc.

They prefer President Hillary to President Trump. They can “work with her” even better than they worked with Obama.

If you liked Obamacare and Chief Justice Roberts, you will love their legislation and their court selections.

How many of them ate fighting Donald Trump tooth and toenail? How many of them are either covertly or openly supporting Hillary? How many of them refused to endorse Donald Trump?

They have exposed themselves by giving Obama everything he wanted. Vote the out! They have revealed their true colors, and it’s not red, white and blue.

Florida (Fox Poll)
Trump -1
Rubio +2

...

Is that the same Rubio that Trump clobbered in the Florida primary?

Do you think the Congress that we have had that was Republican controlled but gave Obama his every wish was conservative? We need replacements and a President Trump. Democrats have almost been less destructive to conservatism.

Sure, it’s Trump’s fault. It has nothing to do with the GOP establishment alienating much of its base over the course of years.

You should do research first, though, so that you vote for candidates that actually support Trump and are on our side. There’s no reason to punish them for what some in the GOPe have done.

They won’t stand up to Hillary (if she wins) nearly as often as we’d like them to, but at least they can provide a few speed bumps along the way.

Doubtful. They weren't much of a speed bump to Obama.

GOP = Give Obama Power

Obama treated the GOP leadership like a Sultan treats his castrated concubine servants - and the GOP complied joyfully.

Probably because everyone already knows that even if Trump is elected the Republicans will bad mouth/fight him more than they ever did Obama.
