Privacy, a new off-Broadway play starring Daniel Radcliffe at the Public Theater in New York City, contemplates all the ways in which the digital revolution has destroyed privacyand it mourns for its loss.
The provocative production got me thinking about renowned couples counselor Esther Perels Ted Talk, Rethinking Infidelity. In her eloquent lecture, she discusses the ways in which our privacy has dramatically decreased due to technological innovations, while our access to sexual possibilities has exponentially increased for the same reason, making the expectation of marital monogamy far harder to fulfill, and infidelity far easier to discover.
Despite the frightening and ever-expanding ways to electronically snoop, in order to fully modernize marriage we need to resist the degrading urge to spy on our spouses and acknowledge, in radical opposition to our times, each individuals right to privacy within matrimony, including the right to act in our own sexual and romantic self-interests independent of our partners knowledge or consent. (Bear with me.)

First, I’m more concerned that a button pusher in Washington D.C. not have expansive access to my comings and goings and transactions and what kind of dyspepsia medication I might be taking. I trust my wife more than them.
This is part and parcel of how Communism seeks to destroy free and decent societies, by undermining the moral code, which invariably is always based on Judeo-Christian teachings, and encouraging everyone to be adulterous whores and cheats, and they base that on the ‘right’ to “do as thou wilt”, which of course carries the highest recommendation from the Devil himself.
So this harpie wants the right to commit fraud against the spouse.
Got it?
I see a lot of younger people posting about having “poly-amorous” relationships. That is, they have the right to see anyone they want while in a “relationship”.
They will find that doesn’t work out so well after its too late (and they have a few kids).
It matters not.
If you say “Till Death Do Us Part”, and mean it, NOTHING* society or any other human can do can cause that to fail. All this caterwauling about Porn, the ease of ‘hooking up’, the sexual revolution and anything else is BS- it’s like one’s waist or budget- within one’s control; yes circumstances can make something harder or easier but it is 100% about commitment and willpower, everything else is losers making excuses. The ONLY thing you can control is yourself and your reactions to what happens, but any and everyone can control that.
I meant it. My ex-wife didn’t.
The Clintons had it. Just ask them.
Bear with you???
Hell NO, you adulterous bitch!
Yep.
But there’s really not a darn thing anyone can do when the other party doesn’t mean it. I know how blessed *I* am and thusly avoid even putting myself *NEAR* temptation.
Globalists billionares want to abolish all morals so they can engage in disgusting behavior without guilt.
OMG-—these people are insane. Infidelity does so much damage to the kids and spouse who has been cheated on. You can move on and forgive but the scars will always be there, especially if the family life and marriage was solid to begin with.
Didn’t many of the hippies concede that ‘pairing off’ was better than jumping around from partner to partner?
Having studied law, and having closely studied SCOTUS jurisprudence, it is obvious that the 14th amendment contains a right to adultery. It just hasn’t been discovered yet.
Twinkie here. Married almost 53 yrs. to the same old goat.
I made a vow all those years ago. Breaking that vow is
LYING to go with ADULTERY. - I realize - let he, or she
who thinketh they stand take heed lest they fall. With all
the AIDS & other STD’s, dipping in the adultery pool these
days can get you sick and DEAD. FAST! No matter how HOT he
or she LOOKS! LOOKS CAN BE VERY DECEIVING!
“individuate”
How romantic.
I meant it. My ex-husband didnt.
“Didnt many of the hippies concede that pairing off was better than jumping around from partner to partner?”
You watch your mouth! That’s how we got the Clintons! ;)
