Much divides the country when it comes to the issue of gun violence. Thats why it is so important to find common ground so that, together, all Americans can work to reduce the damage that guns cause in our society.
A new initiative starting this week in New Mexico has the potential to bring people together toward a common goal making people safer without fighting over whether assault weapons should be banned or the meaning of the Second Amendment.
Called Guns to Gardens, the movement organized by New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence simply helps people dispose of unwanted weapons. Instead of leaving a gun lying around the house, a person can take it to Guns to Gardens, which is raising money to buy back the weapons. Those unwanted guns will be melted and turned into spades and shovels to be used in community gardens. There will be public arts projects. Its a multi-year, statewide effort, an attempt to secure weapons so that they can no longer be used to harm.
This is especially important in safeguarding children. In New Mexico, children die by firearms at a rate almost 60 percent higher than the national average. A gun that is no longer functional cant be used to commit suicide or to play a game of Russian roulette or to shoot a friend accidentally.

Or you could take it to your local gun store and receive a lot more money for it.

Wow, this a great idea!! Because nobody has ever used a shovel to kill someone...

So, lyin’ val and lyin’ joe rear their ugly heads once again. Maybe that’s why one of my “acquaintances” is headed to Santa Fe this week.

There is a build thread out there on how to turn a shovel into an AK lower.
“A gun that is no longer functional cant be used to commit suicide”
Maybe if you aren’t trying very hard...
Rudyard Kipling knew their kind, even a century ago:
When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”
you too...
my guns met with a similar fate on a expedition up the atlantic coast... no reef has formed yet, but there are reports of some carp seen seizing the day with a glock 17...

A DOLLAR a DAY!?!
Damn! I want to know where you are buying ammo so cheap!
I thought maybe it had something to do with shooting vegetables in your garden. Radishes deserve to be shot!
Yep.
Joel 3:10
Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weakling say, “I am strong!”
