Donald Trump has led in polling against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, and will "bounce back again," according to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
In an interview to air Sunday with businessman John Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable," Gingrich acknowledged the last two weeks have been "tough" on the GOP nominee, but he called the post-convention political climate "a period of turmoil," The Hill reports, posting the remarks ahead of the show.
"[P]eople need to remember, just before those two weeks, he was ahead in every poll, so the chance for him to bounce back again I think is very real," Gingrich said.

Well Newt, you could have been part of the ‘turnaround’.
Instead you shoes to attack him this week.
We are three months away from election day. Lots can happen. Of course he can bounce back.
And the polls are tightening up again. The polls for which methodology was altered, so that they could show Hillary in the lead, now show Hillary ahead by just a few points. Margin of error territory even in a slanted poll.
Stay tuned.
And what of these polls being tight?? Even after the media and Obama and everyone else saying Trump is unqualified and ill tempered and the campaign is in disarray and all that, Trump is still very close in the polls.
Even after the media declared Trump has had the worst week of his life, he’s still in striking distance in the doctored polls.,
People need to quit paying attention to polls.
Turnout is the key.
We need millions of the 43% that did not vote last time to come out.
Trump caused a surge in GOP primary participation.
We need to make sure we secure every vote available to counter the dead vote and the illegal alien vote.
well, that is if you believe phoney-baloney polls that said his support was down. I don’t buy that for a minute, nobody I know has changed their opinion because of some non-issue trumped up by the media.
I do not believe Trump is down to start with.
Of course he will come back. It was a combination of Trump errors and a convention bounce wrapped up in a cocktail of intentionally bad polling.
I don’t think he bounced away, thus there is no need for him to bounce back. These people still do not get it apparently and still view this as a normal election. November 8th will be a real eye opener for many I guess.
Mr. Trump has not only remained ahead, but has
gained momentum.
The MSM, liars, traitors, hated for what they are,
say otherwise, but have they EVER told the truth??
If this is how Newt talks then he is sour grapes in not being VP.
I read here that Chrissy Wallace outdid him today.
Newt, when not on your side for certain, can be a risky person.
I am not sure he is a good ally.
Trump wall! Will be his crowning achievement. And Airport?
What errors?
Me neither. That and the fact Trump is up against a Praetorian Guard media defending Clinton.
Drudge this morning was running a headline in red letters declaring trump within striking distance of hitlery’s +1 ... I’ve been searching for that article on his website but it seemed to have disappeared .. what happen to it? was he snookered buy a phoney poll?
By the way has Gingrich bounced back?
This guy is the absolute WORST surrogate for Trump!! Half the s**t he says you’d think we’re coming from an anti Trump CNN talking head.
Huckabee is so much better. He, even that 11 year old kid or CJ Pearson is better than Newt.
I think that poll was the LA Times/USC daily tracking poll. I check RCP for polling results, since they catalog them all when they’re published.
If Trump can keeps hos focus of these three narratives the rest of way: Crooked Hlllary, the economy, terrorism....I don’t see how he could lose. When he is on this message, his poll numbers always rise. When he gets into feuds with new people, judges and muzzie families of slain soldiers, his numbers drop.
There is absolutely no reason to think Trump won’t turn all of this around in a decisive way.
Why do people think temporary blips must mean aggregate trends?
