Interesting. It appears God judges a people NOW and judges their corrupt rulers LATER (perhaps to avoid anomie?). That later judgment will bring shock and awe to those who misused their authority.

I always pictured Jesus’ second coming and His dealing with His enemies in Revelation as the parable of the 10 minas (Luke 19:11-27).
