The conservative tea party challenger who was narrowly beaten in the Republican primary by U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster says he will run against the eight-term incumbent -- as a Democrat.
Art Halvorson, a retired Coast Guard captain from Bedford County, received more than the 1,000 write-in votes in the Democratic primary.
...
Halvorson has called Shuster too moderate, and the challenger touts himself as a tea party-backed conservative Christian. Shuster is the House Transportation Committee chairman and is Pennsylvania's highest-ranked member of Congress. He beat Halvorson in the 2014 Republican primary, but his second victory over Halvorson in April was slim: 49,393 votes to 48,166.
...
Shuster stood to hold onto the seat he won in a special 2001 election after the retirement of his father, Rep. E. G. "Bud" Shuster.
...
Neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump are holding fast to the long-standing orthodoxy of their respective parties," Halvorson wrote on his website. "Today's political divide is more about the conflict between an arrogant ruling elite in both parties against the interests of the vast majority of the population who simply want to live their lives, raise their families and contribute to their communities without being bossed around by Washington's power brokers

Love a politician with fight and initiative
This is exactly the strategy we will have to use to remove some of the entrenched multi-national weasels who wear R jerseys.
and “D” jerseys too
Like his father before him Shuster is a pork maven.
Will Central PA be willing to forego their highway pork in the name of restoring Constitutional governance?
Wish I was confident that the answer is yes.
I got elected as election judge with no more than six write-in votes.
Tim Murphy, our congress critter, got the Democrat election line because they didn't run their usual sacrificial lamb one year.
If you are a Marxist, gloablist traitor who would destroy American boders it doesn’t matter if you have an (R) or (D) next to your name.
Ryan, McCain, Cruz, Obama, Biden, Clinton.... all cut from the same anti-American cloth
Back in 2014 one of the FReepers here was really laying into people who hadn't voted Romney in 2012 making the tired old lesser of two evils
case, when someone pointed out that using that logic he should vote for the Democrat against McConnell he absolutely went off on the guy making the suggestion... even though there's fairly good evidence that a freshman Democrat wouldn't have nearly the power to stab us in the back [repeatedly] like McConnell did.
And look at now: more and more people are realizing it's not Democrat v. Republican, but [Globalist] Elites vs. the Average American. — I'm fairly certain that regardless of whoever wins the Presidential race we're in for some interesting times.
(I expect that if the globalists win they'll attempt to implement the final destruction of the US*, and if the nationalist [Trump] wins then the political- and bureaucratic-elite [tending toward globalist elitism] will rebel and throw up all the road-blocks they can because they do not want to relinquish power.)
Sheriff David Clarke is as solid as they come and he has to run as a Democrat in order to get elected in Milwaukee. So it can work, but it depends on there being a critical mass of Republicans who will vote for the man regardless of the party. Got a feeling a lot of FReepers wouldn’t do it based on comments they make here.
Exactly right.
I’ve said repeatedly that Alison Grimes was the lesser evil since they failed to dump him in the primary when they had Matt Bevin available.
turn abut is fair play
Geez, they’ll have to rename a lot of highways and other stuff if Schuster gets the boot
The only way to get out the big RINOs is by running a conservative against them in the General.
Surprised there isn’t a ‘sore loser’ law in Pa to prevent this!
In MO governor race there was an ex-dem running as rep and an ex-rep running as dem. I think we can officially ignore the D R labels. The GOPe/RINOs started this trend it seems where party affiliation no longer means anything because they got in and acted like dems.
I think you’ll start seeing a lot of conservatives run as Dems in the smaller races just because they know some people just click the D and that those D voters tend to be clueless.
Linkee no workee at 8:30pm eastern. So, nolo commento. Uh-Oh?!
