Pipe Bomb Explodes on Police SUV in Maryland

Someone placed a pipe bomb on the hood of a police cruiser in a Thurmont neighborhood.
The bomb exploded just 20 minutes or so after the officer parked it in front of his home and went inside. Police say the blast shook the entire neighborhood shortly after midnight

IMO this incident is more of the anti-police violence we've been seeing lately - not necessarily directed against this particular officer.

Doesn’t look like there was much in the way of shrapnel, just blast pressure. Are we sure it was a “bomb” vs. just a really powerful illegal firework?
