Over the past couple of weeks, Patricia Smith, the mother of Benghazi victim Sean Smith, spoke at the Republican National Convention, while Khizr Khan, who lost his soldier son in the Iraq War, spoke at the Democratic National Convention.
As The Daily Caller points out, the media reported on both, but — in many cases — in different ways.

Both Khan’s and Smith’s speeches aired live on CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN. The Media Research Center measured the reaction by major media to the speeches and found the Khansreceived 50 times more after-speech coverage than Pat Smith.
Additionally, GOP candidate Donald Trump’s response to — and subsequent back-and-forth with — the Khans has ignited a flurry of talking points on TV and online.
