The father of a Muslim American soldier killed in Iraq, whose recent speech gained him international fame, has lashed out at the US Republican Party.
In an interview with Al Jazeera's Mehdi Hasan, the host of UpFront, Khizr Khan condemned the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, and Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, for failing to withdraw their endorsement of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
"They are being cowards in a moral sense," Khan said.
Asked if top Republicans would eventually withdraw their endorsement for Trump, Khan answered: "It is coming. I assure you ... The moral dilemma in his candidacy is coming full circle."
Khan, whose son Humayun was killed in Iraq in 2004, spoke on the closing night of the Democratic National Convention.
His remarks, especially those criticising Trump, went viral.
"Americans are not going to buy the snake oil he is selling," Khan told Al Jazeera.
The billionaire and former reality television star who hopes to lead the US was "incapable intellectually and mentally" of understanding how he has helped boost recruitment for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group with his "fear-mongering", Khan said.
During the interview, Khan, who has roots in Pakistan, said that he had opposed the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
"That was a mistake that has not served American interests well," he said.
"[Hillary Clinton] supported it, but it was the Republican party's starting and doing of the Iraq war," he added. If I criticise Hillary Clinton on her policies, it is received well. The person who criticises is not condemned."
ISIL recently called Khan's late son an "apostate".
"That [ISIL] is a perverted version of Islam," Khan said. "Islam has nothing to do with this kind of violence".
(YUUUUGE Sigh) The guy is determined to be Cindy Sheehan v2.0.
He wouldn’t just go away, playing the grieving father, with some sense of dignity.
Media enablers are egging him on.
He is on record as supporting Sharia law and that is inconsistent with the Constitution he was trying to show Trump. This guy is either a spy and or Terrorist bought and paid for by the Democrat Party.
“During the interview, Khan, who has roots in Pakistan, said that he had opposed the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.”
Now the truth is revealed.
Khan, while living in the United States was opposed our country in a time of war and if he was opposed to the USA, he was for Saddam.
Treason.
exactly true
Yes, Clinton/Khan 2016!
Make America Muslim Again! (OK, for the first time.)
No, his clock is 1400 years too slow......................
This clown is already 24 hours overdue on his 15 minutes of fame.
Just shut up and go away.
Khan has also expounded on how sharia law supersedes the US constitution that he so indignantly waved on television. We don't need more of these people.
As I saw on a sign .... “CHANGE IS COMING, EITHER BY BALLOT OR BULLET
Shut up,Mr Khan.
Go find Cindy Sheehan and you can whine together.
(They are politicising, therefore cheapening, the deaths of their own sons..)
.
Cindy Sheehan with a hook nose. This goose stepping Muzzie wasn’t going away no matter what Trump said.
WOW!!! This is getting so over the top. Trump has been in the public eye for 30 years. Now, all of a sudden, he is the most evil man in the universe. And NOW he’s the number one recruiter for ISIS.
All because he opposed the democrats.
14 centuries of history tell a different story, Khan-man.
Didn’t he say he wants to leave the lime light?
When is this goat-humping satanist going to shut up?
Kahn is merely the “Muslim Clock Boy” of 2016. I actually think clock boy was a practice run to see how much of this garbage we can stomach. Fool me once.....
Two in the hat for this Mooselimb radical ...
One man and his son do NOT make the case for open borders or for accepting hundreds of thousands of people from terrorist countries.
It’s a bogus argument based on pity party politics. And it’s disgusting.
