A doctor backed by agriculture and business groups ousted U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp Tuesday in a Kansas Republican primary race that focused on the tea party-backed incumbent's battles with GOP leaders and criticism that he was too cantankerous to be effective.
Great Bend obstetrician Roger Marshall won the tough contest against Huelskamp in the 1st District, which spans western and much of central Kansas.

No it’s not good news....he was the type of congressman we need. He was replaced by a Meg Whitman type
Erickson has his Red State convention in Colorado next week.
Glenn, the R primary winner for Senate is a Cruz man who enthusiastically supports Trump.
Glenn desperately wants Colorado to unite around both Trump and him.
We’ll see if Erickson is purist or compromising or scorched earth next week. So far, his strategy has seemed to be to take down as many with him as he goes down.
"Tim Huelskamp certainly enjoys these eggs. The bacon's very good"
"Bob Dole agrees with Tim Huelskamp. Bob Dole likes the coffee also."
And in the rest of Kansas Governor Brownback was issued a stinging defeat as 11 of his conservative allies in the House and Senate were all defeated in their primaries by moderates.
“We just lost a Tea Party conservative because the television ads against Huelskamp worked.”
Didn’t know there was still a Tea Party.
>
There is no doubt Huelskamp was anti-Trump. When are these neverTrump idiots going to learn?
>
A: The day after their election defeat?
That’d be my hope/wish at least
>
Ryan & McCain are going to be next if they dont get on-board with the American people.

I’d prefer GONE as well. There is NOTHING they have done since electing on their ‘promises’ that could even be construed as granting ‘conservative’ credentials...let alone Constitutional.
H is a scoundrel. His opposition to Trump is for “the soccer moms.” What a worthless piece of politician.
He is not the kind of congressman we need. “Trump is not a conservative when it comes to issues of the heart.” Which tomcat dragged this thing into the floors of the US Congress.
Huelskamp was against Trump. To hell with him.
First, when Trump talks about the rich he is talking about the rich - which these days means $100 Millionaires and above. [Use your heads folks - the annual return over inflation on $10 M is a middle class living if not actually poverty level if one is honest about inflation].
Now it is the super-rich elite who push for and profit from the present system. Why shouldn't they be taxed to pay for it? That's not a liberal position.
"Trump wants to slam the borders shut. That is not a conservative position."
Ok. Now the guy is smoking some whicked shit.
I’d vote against anyone LYING TED endorsed as well. Ryan and McCain better be scared because they are next up to be sent home.
I felt it was Huelskamp that had the negative ads against Marshal. I kept wantting see Huelskamp tell about his good points. I didn’t see it.
I didn’t hear anything about ethanol. All I saw were negative ads blasting each other.
Erikson tried to make it that those who back Trump are anti-conservative and those who oppose him (even though that would help Hillary into the WH) are the "true conservatives"...
This is a mixed bag. I head Huelskamp was a real-deal conservative but he was also Anti-Trump, which means against closed borders.
Yet Marshall is described as an Establishment Elitist, who DID endorse Trump.... but he’s probably lying.
I think the net-loss for those who want closed borders (me) is zero here.
The EXACT opposite of reality.
Erickson is an ass's ass.
AZ is stuck on stoopid and will never dump McDemocrat! ....

Conservatism just ain’t what it used to be. It has become apparent that there are a lot of suck-ass pseudo-intellectuals who profess to be conservative, yet don’t really understand truly free markets and ignore the importance of nationalism in a free society. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Erickass’ summit. Probably nothing good...
