Purple Hearts aren’t given for bravery. They are given to the unlucky ones who were unlucky enough to be killed or injured in combat. It’s not so much an award as it is a symbol of their sacrifice.

Purple Hearts arent given for bravery. They are given to the unlucky ones who were unlucky enough to be killed or injured in combat. In WWII a lot of combat veterans referred to their "unlucky" wounds as "Million Dollar" wounds.
I guess you had to be there.
