The Wisconsin Elections Commission is predicting voter turnout of just 16 percent for the partisan primary election on Aug. 9, equating roughly to 710,000 voters.
Kenosha County Clerk Mary T. Schuch-Krebs said the lack of high-profile or competitive races is to blame.
I just dont think theres enough on the ballot that will draw people out, said Schuch-Krebs, who estimates 15 to 20 percent turnout in Kenosha County. And its summer; people are busy doing things with their families. People think of elections in the fall.
Many of the candidates running for local office are unopposed.
The highest-profile local race is that between Republican incumbent House Speaker Paul Ryan and businessman Paul Nehlen for Wisconsins 1st Congressional District seat. Ryan is from Janesville; Nehlen lives in Delavan.
In-person absentee voting started this week and runs through Aug. 5.

Prayers up.......Fingers crossed
That’s exactly how you Cantorize your weasel.
We took out the weasel Eric Cantor in just such an election.
Go go go Nehlen!
What about crossover and independent voters? I would think Sanders supporters would love the chance to cantorize Ryan just because.
There’s only about 650k to 750k CITIZENS in a district, and far fewer voters. So 710k voters is way, way high and causes me to question the entire article.
Great news!
Hope to knock off another Uniparty sellout.
Maybe the rest of the herd will get the idea they are next. They keep selling out for money.
Need Ryan to lose. Trump to win. Merkel exit. Le Pen win. Disband the EU. Build the wall.
Only way to present us from becoming a third world hell hole.
It’s amazing that so few people hold our future in their hands.
Please, Lord.....please......
hmmmmm.....good point......will fact check the article
It was likewise a small number of voters in my district that saved the USA from Rubio’s disastrous amnesty plan.
They were planning to pass it in the House with Democrat votes the week after the primary.
750K in each district translates to a total US population of 326,000,000—if every person in that district is a citizen.
They need to Cantorize the Puke
Good catch....I did a bit more reading and that 710k figure is statewide....not just in Ryan’s District 1.
The Kenosha News states that Kenosha County expects a 15%-20% turnout, which is still really low.
Hopefully, the fired-up Nehlen base can turn out the primary vote.
That puts us at around 25,000 voters for the presidential primary.
I bet the idiot press meant to say 7.1K are expected to turn out.
And God bless each and every Virginian in Cantor’s district for doing it.
Virginia showed it could be done.
My estimation is going to be that the # of voters will marginally higher than assumptions and Ryan wins by a just outside the margin that would trigger a recount.
Unless it's tidal wave voting for Nehlen, then all best are off. The quite vote crowd is the factor. They don't talk about politics, participate in polling, etc but show up and pull the lever.
They include ILLEGALS and resident aliens as part of the district.
I doubt that Ryan will be defeated. My hope is that Nehlen gets at least 40% of the vote, a huge moral victory that will get Ryan's attention.
Let them think that so Ryan gets croaked.
Amen, Cantorize the traitor weasel ...
The outcome may have already been decided. I’ve read some bad statistics about voter fraud in Wisconsin.
