RE “...Not really fair game...”

Au contraire.

All’s fair when the Country is at stake.

Whatever it takes to win, do it.

Emphatically agree. I don’t have any patience with the “queasy” here, anymore than with the neo-con “true conservatives”.

Free Republic had its genesis as a response to the egregious excesses and lawbreaking of those two charlatans: “Two for the price of one!”
While Bill played the guy wearing only black socks in front of the sink off the Oval office, she was hell on wheels for 8 years, with a mouth like an X-rated movie, stealing FBI files, gutting the WH travel office, barking at the Secret Service, decorating their Christmas trees with birth-control devices, degrading our armed forces. Like Obama, thumbing their noses all the while.
We don’t have to reminded of all their malfeasance, capped by stealing furnishings from the White House.

And we don’t need to revisit the `90s and an “assault weapons ban”, one scandal after another; more spend spend spend while cutting the military, more endless, million dollar `vacay’ junkets; in sum, another four years of Obama’s failed policies—described by a fawning press as one success after another.

If these two are as ill as they seem to be, I have no sympathy: they have no business trying to revisit the `90s and running another “2-4-1” special.

With our racist divider-in-chief, his burgeoning deficit and refusal to enforce law—while making it up as he goes along, and suing states that try to protect themselves—this experiment of ours balances on the edge of a knife.
Hillary just walked away from felonies and is itching to try out Obama’s interesting new expansion of executive orders: presidential law-making, dunking in the faces of a gutless Congress.

IMHO there won’t be another chance to clean up the `rats monumental mess. There will be no mulligan for neocon, self-styled “true conservatives” apparently hoping Trump loses. Let me repeat that: Republicans working to see that the GOP candidate loses.

In sum, keep in mind that if the `rats feel they can’t win honestly, they have no compunctions against election fraud.
Yes, it is a categorical imperative: whatever it takes to win.
