I’d just say “if your Demoncrats hadn’t nearly doubled the national debt to $20 trillion—and you have nothing to show for it by the way—maybe we could have done “free college”. I would have preferred to give our own people $150 billion for college rather than to a secret deal to Iran—who wants to nuke us off the planet. But remember, your Demoncrats are fighting for you!”
A shame the BernieBots are too stupid to know that “free college” is really “someone else pays for it.”
I hope they claim it will be as affordable as obamacare.
I tell people all the time, we already have free college:
It’s called the GI Bill.
Worked for many of us, and it is one reason I joined (class of 65, thank you).
Our state also gives free in-state tuition to those with a high-school 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (I understand not all states do, but get a 3.5 GPA, learn to write and submit letters and apply for scholarships).
Spend your years productively in High School or join the armed forces. Otherwise, go work and go to school part time.
What am I missing here?
If you want something bad enough, work at it. Mow lawns part time. Sling burgers. I didn’t want to do any of that, so I signed up, joined up, got fit, traveled the world (well.. S.E.A...), ate exotic food and drank exotic beer, met exotic women, got an education and learned a few trades as well while enlisted!

Free college? Day care for adults - keeps them off the streets while they “study” for jobs there’s no demand for.
