DORAL, Fla. Donald J. Trump said Wednesday that he hoped Russia had hacked Hillary Clintons email, essentially sanctioning a foreign powers cyberspying of a secretary of states correspondence.
Russia, if youre listening, I hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing, Mr. Trump said, staring directly into the cameras. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.
Mr. Trumps call was an extraordinary moment at a time when Russia is being accused of meddling in the U.S. presidential election. His comments came amid questions about the hacking of the Democratic National Committees computer servers, which researchers have concluded was likely the work of two Russian intelligence agencies.
Later in the news conference, when asked if he was really urging a foreign nation to hack into the private email server of Mrs. Clinton, or at least meddle in the nations elections, he dismissed the question. Thats up to the president, Mr. Trump said, before finally telling the female questioner to be quiet let the president talk to them.
The Clinton campaign immediately accused Mr. Trump of both encouraging Russian espionage against the United States and meddling in domestic politics.
This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent, said Jake Sullivan, Mrs. Clintons chief foreign policy adviser. This has gone from being a mattter of curiosity, and a matter of politics, to being a national security issue.
Mr. Trump has largely dismissed assertions that Russia was behind the Democratic committee breach as conspiracy theories a view he reiterated again when he said the hack is probably not Russia.

Read his actual statement. He says if they can find and release them the PRESS will reward them.
I have to wonder what Joe McCarthy would have thought of Trump.
Like they REALLY care about national security.
It is a sad, sad thing when you can’t count on our own FBI, backed up by the NSA to give citizens of this country the real truth and you have to depend on the Russians to let the truth out.
It is just totally brilliant. Puts the GOPe and the corrupt three letter agencies in the spotlight of incompetence and collusion.
BRILLIANT!!!
Why?
I trust foreign some foreign governments MUCH MORE than I trust my own government.
in fact, I don’t trust my own government at all.
Trump says whatever he wants. He doesn’t care how it plays. The only good thing about it is that you at least know that he has no hidden motive or agenda. It’s all out in the open.
Aww....everyone gets their panties in a wad over his humor. He is right. Doubt the Russians had anything to do with the DNC leaks.
Oh this is beatiful. Taking the news cycle away from Dum Convention. Look at the apoplectic press!
I’ll bet Sarah Palin is laughing her but off right now.
Given that those 33,000 emails are about yoga and weddings, this can’t be a national security issue, by definition.
This should bring at least 24 hours of non stop media hysteria.
Stop clutching your pearls.
Hacking private email servers at the DNC is a matter of national security WHY, exactly??
Oh give me a break! Trump and everyone else knows that the Russians, the Chinese, the North Koreans and most likely every government hostile to us hacked and has every one of Hillary’s missing emails. And supposedly Obama’s cronies at the FBI and NSA do not. That is the point Trump was making.
Sgt. Schultz Comey should dispatch a team of FIB agents to Moscow and plea to get all the Hillary toilet server emails so he can find intent.
He has 2 more appearances today, including an “Ask me any question” appearance on Reddit this evening. He knows exactly what he’s doing. lol!
This gives new meaning to "the enemy of my enemy is my 'friend'."
