The Hill ^ | July 22, 2016 | Harper Neidig

Posted on 07/24/2016 1:17:25 PM PDT by monkapotamus

Donald Trump is reportedly planning on bankrolling super-PACs that would oppose Gov. John Kasich (R-Ohio) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), two of his former primary opponents who snubbed him during the party’s convention this week...

Trump signaled such a plan in a speech on Friday morning, the day after the close of the convention, while blasting Cruz for refusing to endorse him in remarks before the convention Wednesday night...

Don’t pooh pooh this. Read his interview with Chuck Todd on Meet the Depressed today.

Agree with you guys - focus on Hillary first - which Trump is.

However, he did lay out this possibility. Why? It puts the fear of Trump in the never Trump politician crowd.

Remember the Japanese adage - the nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

Trump targets (my guesses): Cruz, Kasich, Flake.
Personally, I’ve got no problem burying these three politically.

The never Trump politicians need to be wary of a man who has approximately 10 billion dollars.

What exactly did he say that confirms this. Because I don’t buy the liberal BS without full confirmation.

Chuck Todd: All right. Ted Cruz, I'm going to amend it, are you really going to fund a super PAC to help defeat him--

Donald Trump: Well, it's not the number one thing on my mind. Look, what's on my mind is beating Hillary Clinton. What's on my mind is winning for the Republican Party. With that being said, yeah, I'll probably do a super PAC, you know, when they run against Kasich, for $10 million to $20 million, against Ted Cruz. And maybe one other person that I'm thinking about--

Kasich’s ceiling will be the Senate. And he’d be a huge improvement over Sherrod Brown. If Brown was governor he would have tried to order the OHP and Cleveland police to stop open carry, arrest CCW holders when found to be carrying, and set up road blocks to stop and if necessary ambush Bikers for Trump. He’s just that much a Fascist.

The Hill is an anti conservative gossip site. Ananymous source BS. Anyone with a brain that listened to what Trump said knew it was a throw away ironic line. “Maybe I should start a PAC..” is aimed at the jackwagons that started that stupid anti Trump PAC.

Only difference is that if he started one, it would likely be effective.

Enemy identification would be a Trump shortcoming.

If true, why didn’t he run as a Bolshie?

They are essentially working for the Dims at this point, whether money was involved (yet) or not - I don’t have a problem with Trump going after them. Just the threat of it may produce some behavioral changes in those two snakes.

Trump isn’t in this just to be President, he wants to fundamentally transform the GOP from top to bottom.

“is reportedly planning...”

Trump isn’t coy about stating his intentions; the old secret source game tells us this is crappola. Why would Trump waste resources throwing gas on self-immolating opponents?

From “Maybe I’ll set up a super-PAC if he decides to run,” Trump said. “Are you allowed to set up a super-PAC…if you are the president, to fight someone?” to the headline “Report: Trump to create super-PACs to attack Cruz, Kasich”. WHAT A JOKE. Hack journalism at its best.

Agree w/your label for the Hill. More importantly, for Trump to spend a cent or a nano second on a venture like this during the last months of a very winnable campaign; would be beyond reckless.

.. is reportedly planning ..

Believe it if/when you see it.

My impression of the man is that he is neither a) overtly vindictive, nor b) prone to side-issue derailment.

Allowing Lyin'Ted to hang himself in front of 50M people will probably suffice.

Next stop: 1600 for DJT .. orange pantsuit for Hitllary !

Cruz and Kasich were stupid. Not a smart idea to piss off the next President. And if Trump loses he will spend millions to ensure Ted’s defeat. Ted is book smart but street stupid.

He already drove a spike into the hearts of both their careers. Why would he pay them any further bother?

Seems like that might be a violation of the campaign finance law. Running ads against people who aren’t your opponent?

This may be how Donald has always been in his private life.
Old habits of litigation and sabotage are hard to break. Well, hopefully, he will be just too busy as president to devote much time to such hobby projects of revenge. He will find out.

If you are going to ‘get’ somebody as president, it cannot be too linear, or you will cause too many problems for yourself. Be subtle about it. You can still totally upset their applecarts.
