CLEVELAND Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is already focused on picking people for his future Cabinet.
A day before accepting his partys nomination and completing an astonishing political rise that has taken him to the heights of the Republican Partys power, Trump met with his inner circle at the Cleveland Westin to discuss his possible transition.
Eric Trump told The Hill that his father is determined to put together a Cabinet that can help him turn around the country. He suggested his father would look to the private sector to find effective leadership for government.
You have to have the best people, and you have to put those people in charge, and those people have to be the best at what they do, and thats going to be my fathers message, Trump said.
If were going to have the biggest deals in the world, which are trade deals, why not have the best guys negotiate this? Why not have the Carl Icahns or the top guys of Wall Street? he added. Its why theyre worth millions and billions of dollars. Its because theyre tough and theyre shrewd.
Donald Trump recently floated former Goldman Sachs executive Steve Mnuchin as a possible choice to head the Treasury Department, a development first reported by Fortune. Mnuchin serves as the national finance chairman of his campaign.
Icahn, one of the nations savviest investors, said last year he was not interested in heading Treasury.
Youll probably see a lot of people who are outside traditional Washington, D.C., Eric Trump added. The people who are in there right now havent exactly done this country wonders.

I saw a thing last night where some Texas conservative big wigs were saying that Ted is done in Texas. They are floating Perry as the primary candidate against him in the next Texas Senate elections.
But he might be a good one to help with the wall from that position in the Senate.
John McCain for Secretary of the Padded Room. He can lord over his own little dark corner of the sanitarium.
*Chuckle*
K.T. McFarland would be an excellent choice for Sec State.
Bolton is very smart, and yet he has made statements and taken stances in the past that concern me as being very globalist. However so has Newt, so if Mr. Trump keeps that in mind, I’m sure there is a perfect spot for Bolton.
I think even though they both (Newt and Bolton) have been dipped from time to time in the globalist brush, they are both at heart patriots. They served in times where the globalists ruled the roost. They should have another opportunity. That opportunity will show where they are. Much as we saw with Lyin’ Ted.
Changing the Dept name back to “War” is definitely genius. McShame holding it, not so much. He has shown who he is. He imho has not earned another opportunity to serve in high office.
What about Flynn?
I think you are right. He will come up with an extraordinary team of people.
It is our nature here to speculate and probe and surmise and guess.... but that is because we are Americans sitting in the corner tavern having a mug or two and talking politics!
We have nominated someone who inspires hope and the real vision that Belief is possible again, and so we are given flight in our own imaginings of what WE would do if we were blessed with the prospect of putting together an ideal cabinet.
It is not a futile exercise we. I learn much from the discussion from other FReepers, and am so grateful I have the opportunity to share a cyber mug with all of you. I suspect I am not alone in this.
And who knows who might be lurking who has Trump’s ear? They may be tracking the conversations here (benignly) to get the temperature of the Freedom movement in these matters.
I love that scenario!
Perfect. That is where it needs to be. States all already have their environmental departments in place, too, so it would not be an onerous transition.
LOL! I like your comment!
Melania indeed SHOULD be picking out curtains, but I suspect she will be involved in a lot of other worthy causes as well. She already mentioned her concerns about education.
We do indeed need to get rid of the entire O/H agenda, and wave goodby as it goes down the drain!
LOL! That needs to be a meme!
“UN CHARTER REVIEW NOW!”
and while we are at it:
“AUDIT THE FED!” (Federal Reserve)
LOL! LOVE THAT IMAGE!
*giggle*
Trump:
“HELLO, IS THIS CANADA? SEND A CAB. TED WANTS TO GO HOME!”
OOOOOOOoooooooooo I like that one!
Oh wouldn’t that be a relief??? Maybe with his Supreme Court picks that can be addressed.
There has been so much that went sideways with Woodrow Wilson and FDR. They did such enormous damage.
I have to bear in mind that we can’t fix it all. I have to remind myself that if Trump will just BUILD THAT WALL then, we are yuuugely helped along the way to protecting and restoring our opportunity to do the reversing of the damage.
He will do more than build the wall, but while it will be surprising to see what all he will do, he likely can’t do it all.
I’ll just be on my knees in front of the television rejoicing to our Father when he gives his oath of office in the same way I was when I watched Ronald Reagan give his.
Well, that’s disturbing.
We need to pray down illumination and vision for Jared and the whole family and team as well as protection from the effects of erroneous input. Just my opinion.
“The TSA is solely responsible for screening passengers and checked and carry-on baggage at 450 U.S. airports. From the beginning this responsibility should have been turned over to the US Coast Guard. ...”

I like this solution! That needs to be shouted out everywhere!
The military has done an amazing job at resisting, but with Obama’s purges of the best at the top, they need rescuing from the political appointments.
LOL! Oh I hope he does that... or something similar!
LOL! His senate office?
I like the idea of aid being food... and other materials. Medical supplies, water, blankets, clothing, etc. But yes, money needs to leave the equation as a matter of course, with PERHAPS certain exceptions of SMALL amounts made at the discretion of Congress and/or the President, with very specific limitations made to the grant.
Whats the difference, [between Special Advisor and Chief of Staff]I really dont know I thought they were the same .
What about the czars? Will Trump keep them?

Good questions. I’d like to know them too!
