If you took time to watch the Republican National Convention you might have noticed a song or two from your favorite artist being blasted over the speakers at Quicken Loans Arena.

Music has become the backdrop for this election season and some artists have welcomed the usage of their work by presidential candidates while others have been totally disgusted by it.

Since Donald Trump's announcement to run for presidency in 2015 several artists have come out against the nominee's use of their music.

Some bakers consider their wedding cakes as art and would prefer that gay couples don't purchase them. Is that ok?

And everysong was paid for

If they don’t want people using their songs, these bands should buy their music back from their labels to prevent them from licensing

I am sure these loser bands enjoy the monthly royalty checks though

Lame. They should be happy someone is enjoying their music—likely licensed and rewording them with a profit if they haven’t sold their rights away.

If they want to control who buys the licensing rights to their music, all these bands should buy back their own songs so they can forever deprive everyone of it. And we will then forget them all and they all die broke.

I find it funny when I see these moronic bands threatening to sue Republicans for using their music, but the politicians actually bought the public performance licenses to do so. So the question should be, why do these bands find the need to steal from people they don’t like? Because I don’t see these bands sending the Donald his royalty check back.....

**..several artists have come out against the nominee’s use of their music.**

If the nominee has paid the ASCAP and BMI dues cannot he use it?

The spoiled rich band people don’t like it.

That's because their only source of DECENT income is bribes from corrupt politicians.

I thought that the use of the last song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Was absolutely brilliant! Aimed at the GOP-e, perhaps?

'You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes you just might find You just might find You get what you need"

After reading about 30 threads on this same subject, the conclusion is;

Two of the songs were written by someone else, not those groups.
The third was written by that group, but they don’t really have much of a chance of winning any kind of large sum in a lawsuit. At the most they could get a quick settlement.

None of the incidents involved playing their ‘song’ directly, the songs were being played by the G.E. Smith band which is a well know entertainment show band that is popular for playing the songs of other bands.

None of the groups mentioned are even trying to sue. They are only sobbing publicly because their agents prompted them to, to gain some publicity and because the agents have certain Hollywood political connections who wanted it done.

They’re denying us the right to hear their music in any venue we want. That’s discrimination. Use it anyway. Let em wail.

These bands always talk about peace, love and understanding until it’s not about peace, love and understanding.
