I have to think that the post Cold War Putin would rather deal with honorable Donald, than with a loose cannon who doesn’t care. If she’d keep a loose cover on Democrat party affairs, she’d keep an equally loose cover on anything Putin wanted to tell her.

Blackmail would only work if Putin threatened to release emails that would get Hillary impeached. That will never happen since no Dem would ever vote to impeach a Dem. So he really has no blackmail he could effectively use against her. Her spinners would spin their way out of it.

If you are in control of the email stash, you can release what you want when you want. So it depends on what’s in them and what Putin’s (or whoever) goals are. Pick and choose what you need to release to achieve today’s goals. Keep what you need for future blackmail/embarassment/disruption.
