Newt Gingrich generously assumed the role of played elder statesman and took time out his own personal convention speech to unselfishly (and spot on accurately, BTW) “clarify” Cruz's ill advised “vote your conscience” statement with a brilliant, off the cuff interpretation of Cruz's words as a de facto and very powerful endorsement of Donald Trump and also as an indictment of Hillary Clinton.

Newt Gingrich held out an olive branch with a big fat white dove perched on it to Ted Cruz and all Ted had to do to grab that branch was confirm Newt's endorsement spin on his speech and it would have been a PR drama home run that would have helped Trump, Cruz, the Republican Party down ticket and ultimately the American people.

Team trump made the gesture and Cruz spurned it to the detriment of all, especially us, the American people.

Cruz needs to go far away and spend some quiet time wandering in the wilderness to contemplate and reflect on his attempted sabotage of Donald Trump and the entire Republican Convention ,Republican Party and how it has damaged the American people he claims to represent.

Gingrich was pure brilliance at the convention. I’ve done my share of Newt criticizing, but I was starstruck by how excellently he handled Cruz. Score one for Newt—a BIG one.
