I was a Rubio supporter who will vote for Trump.
Here’s my take on the Cruz speech.
1. The Cruz non-endorsement will be the headline of the news for the next day. That’s a real loss for Trump and the party. That’s two days out of three that the campaign will have headlines they didn’t want.
2. I would have loved to be in the room when Cruz and Trump met. Two very stubborn men.
3. I expected Cruz to say something like “I pledged to support the Republican nominee and I’m a man of my word.”
4. Whatever Cruz wanted for his endorsement, Trump was not willing to give him. That’s fine if the price was too high, but if no deal could be made, Cruz shouldn’t have been allowed to speak. At the least he should have been moved to 3 pm.
5.I’m sure Cruz realizes this will hurt him. He’ll be fine. He can make $ 1 million a year as an appellate lawyer.
6. I think with Kasich and Cruz pissing into the tent, the convention has not gone as well as it should have. There may not have been anything to do about Kasich. He doesn’t seem to want anything to do with Trump. Cruz is more of a failure of negotiations. They should have been able to make a deal. If not he should not been allowed to speak.

It’s far more likely that they cut a deal and Cruz lied. He’s done that a lot in the senate.
Cruz wants Trump to apologize for l’afair Heidi & JFKGATE. He thinks he can hide behind his wife and get a do over, IMO.
Your number 5 is too optimistic, implying dead Cruz has a future.
He doesn’t.
Heidi divorces him in a few months.
He eventually realizes his lifelong dream of becoming president is now beyond his reach.
1.3 to 1 odds dead Cruz commits suicide in a year.
