CLEVELAND (AP) -- Sen. Ted Cruz's Texas-size political ambitions will be on full display Wednesday as the primary runner-up delivers a prime-time convention speech, but holds off on a full-throated endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump.
The conservative senator repeatedly clashed with Trump during a bitter primary fight, with the New York businessman mocking the lawmaker as "Lyin' Ted." With an eye toward 2020, Cruz's team drafted a convention speech focusing on adherence to the Constitution, a calling card for conservatives and a perceived contrast with Trump.
Cruz has not endorsed Trump despite pleas for party unity from the campaign and party officials. Nor is he expected to in his speech, which was carefully screened by Trump campaign officials, the senator's aides said.

He’ll probably show up with a selfie stick in hand.
Seems to be the Freeper way.

“I think Ted is going to make a spectacular Trump endorsement tonight.”
I would agree, but replace “Spectacular” with “necessary” or maybe “grudging” for that endorsement. But then again, I thought they would convict O.J., that Comey would indict, and that I would win Powerball.
That’s probably as much as can be hoped for.
That is exactly the tone they should use. Both could walk away with honor.
“We FReepers shouldnt be so quick to glom onto the MSMs negative portrayals of this proven conservative senator.”
All Ted has proven to me is that he isn’t a man of his word. I once supported him and sent him money. Never again. Maybe he can find some support with Hillary and her shills.
It is clear he is nothing more than an egomaniac.
Huh? Well, then, you say we are free to “FUTC” all day long after he doesn’t endorse tonight? So, tomorrow is the right day to launch on Ted, you mean?
Trump’s people need to keep a hand right next to the ‘OFF’ switch that controls Ted’s microphone.
“Has CARLY left the country?”

Cruz will replay another Ted: Ted Kennedy's snub of Carter after he secured the 1980 Democrat nomination.
Source: Columbia Journalism Review: "The Snub"...
Kennedy did finally arrive at Madison Square Garden. He gave Carter a perfunctory handshake and then seemed to turn his back on the President, skirting around the edges of the podium as party officials tried to arrange a victory photograph. Jules Witcover and Jack Germond, in Blue Smoke and Mirrors, quote a Carter intimate as saying the President looked like a puppy dog trotting after Kennedy. They also quote party chairman, Robert Strauss, after a reporter told him the scene looked like hell, as saying it looked worse than hell.
I’m looking forward to him being booed.
Cruz is never going to be President. Take comfort in your delusions, but Cruz is finished.
No offense, but that was a stupid comment.
Sorry, but he is not a conservative. He is a GLOBALIST. His votes PROVE IT.
Agree. Now true conservatives, liberals...most everyone despises Ted Cruz...albeit for different reasons.
I’m not sure that a Cruz endorsement doesn’t hurt Trump more in someways for the general election.
Endorsement or not, Cruz is definitely not someone you want hanging around the campaign.
Their EGOs are bigger than their love for their country.
No one need glom onto anything to assess Ted Cruz. We all had a full year presidential primary campaign to observe Lyin' Ted.

LOL! That explains it alright.
