They don't really care very much about most of the issues on your list. While they may differ on the details, establishment Republicans share with Democrats a vision of a multicultural America with open borders and a ruling transnational elite. They share the Davos vision where international agencies and corporations rather than nations are sovereign and where borders are a nuisance. Trump threatens that order, so the "liberals" and "conservatives" put aside their game of polite opposition towards each other and unite to fight the common enemy. That's why Kirchik and his friends are calling for a coup against Trump. They never called for a coup against Obama, nor would they do so against Clinton (who will basically give the neoconservatives everything they want on immigration, trade, and foreign policy).
