Man! Why do parents do that! Give our stuff away without even asking if we want it!
I probably would have liked the Hardy Boys, but my brother didn’t read them, and since I bought the books with my allowance, I couldn’t afford both series. LOL!
You DID it!
WOOHOOO...#100!
Mom KNEW I wanted that book which is why I never forgave her. And it wasn’t one that could be easily replaced. I’ve never seen another copy anywhere.
My brother didn’t read his Hardy Boys books. Mom bought them for him but he just wasn’t into reading at all. So I snagged ‘em. LOL! I gave the Nancy Drew books she’d bought to a friend who enjoyed them.
Mom didn’t mind buying books since she really encouraged reading. I was a bookworm like she was but my brother to this day still doesn’t care for reading.
But anything else we wanted, like snacks or records, was bought with our little allowances which we worked for. If we missed one delegated chore, no allowance that week.
I almost went back to the Latvian storks without looking at post numbers. Came “that close” to missing it. LOL!
We’re close to first fledge at the nest. Raivis has been really wound up this morning and flew to the limb next to the cam for a bit. He’s back on the nest now and calmed down. Rasa’s been pretty calm all morning. She’s been sitting on the big limb for quite a while now and seems content.
But when whichever parent shows up with food first, LOOK OUT! Those birds go nuts!
Oh, we got docked, too! My brother would spend his allowance first day and then spend the rest of the week nagging me for a loan. He still brings that up when we get together! LOL! If I loaned him some, he had to pay back with interest.
I should have been a banker! *snork*
LOL! My brother did the same thing but I rarely gave him a loan. That left me with even less to get through the week.
Our allowances were deliberately fairly small. That was to teach us to save if we wanted something that cost more than we got each week.
So he either backed off on his spending for a week here and there or did without . :-)
Well, it was very rare that I did and then it was the devil to get him to pay me back. I would usually have to end up being the tattle-tale to get the payback before he got his allowance. He thought I was the meanest big sister. LOL!
Ours was small too. I was a saver. I even bought some of my clothes when I was a teenager. I didn’t have a job, but I’d save my allowance, put something on lay-away and then had the satisfaction o self-reliance when I finally got to wear my new things. The ladies at the stores were very patient then. :)
It was because I knew he’s never pay me back that I didn’t start the practice. LOL!
Sounds like we were of the same mind-set when we were young and did the same thing. And yes, the ladies in the stores were very patient back then. They understood what was going on, that we were learning to become responsible, self-sufficient people. They were probably teaching their own kids the same thing.
I kind of miss that. But not school. I never liked school! LOL!
Well, I gotta work tomorrow, so nighty-night from the Lone Star State! Talk tomorrow night!
I guess when I retire, I’ll have to have another allowance. Egad!
Ugh! Do NOT miss school at all! LOL
But do miss the simpler times.
Good night from the Tennessee farmlands. Sleep well. Hope your day at work goes smoothly.
Here is the result I got

Really when I checked the "famous singer" block? O...kay.
I watched this show but
it certainly wasn't my favorite back then.
Well, after I did a few chores and ran an errand,
I took the day off yesterday and went to the pool.
We've been having some damaging storms

Looking toward the weekend, it's not looking better...

So, you "took the day off" yesterday? What does that mean? You're retired!
Sounds like you're more busy being retired than when you were working. Heh.
Not much going on with me this week, I usually get together with son once a week or so.
We have pleasant weather abounding with temps in the 80's.
You watching any of the RNC convention? Some great speeches last night.
OK, more coffee to drink and I better get going.
Hope your day is funomenal!
Music bump.
I love Lucy is mine...which figures because my Mom was pregnant with ME at the same time Lucy was pregnant with Little Ricky.
((((FWIW, that was the first pregnancy on National TV))))
