Prior to announcing Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump had narrowed the VP field down to the Indiana governor, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Gov. Chris Christie.
While Gingrich seems to have been a good sport about Trumps ultimate decision to go with Pence, according to the Weekly Standard, Christie was livid.
While minding my own business at the Starbucks inside the Westin hotel this morning, I saw a man engage Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort in conversation about the VP selection process. The man, whom I couldn't identify, suggested that Pence was a smart pick and Gingrich would've been a disaster.
"Christie was livid, right?" the man said at one point. "Yeah," Manafort replied.
In an interview with MSNBC on Thursday, Christie did say he would be upset if he didnt end up getting picked.
"I mean, obviously, I'm a competitive person. So I'm not going to say it won't bother me, if I'm not selected. Of course it bothers you a little bit. 'Cause if you're a competitive person, like I am, and you're used to winning, like I am — again, you don't like coming in second, ever," the governor told Nicolle Wallace.
Christy need to grow up and realize that he wasn’t the best choice for VP.
Tough shite, fat boy !
No surprise there.
Maybe he’ll get a cabinet position which should be an ego boost what with more camera time than VP.
Served his purpose...
Keep in mind that Chris Christie is on the “best” list of the Council on the American Islamic Relations (CAIR) for “outstanding contributions to pushing back against Islamophobic trends.”
I certainly hope Christie was never on Trump’s short list.
I don’t understand the love for Christie some people here have. Sure, Christie did a good job deflating empty suit Rubio during the GOP primary debates, and unfortunately he’s about as far to the right as New Jersey will ever get for a governor, but that’s still puts him well to the Left of just about every other Republican (including Mitt and the Bushes) and even to the Left of many Democrats. Why anyone would want this avowed enemy of the 2d amendment anywhere near a Federal law enforcement office is a mystery to me.
I’m with you. This is more media crappola. As politically savvy as Christie is, he would know that a president from NY and a vice president from NJ just wouldn’t work. And Trump didn’t get to be so successful and well-liked as he is by deliberately humiliating people he was associating with.
It’s amazing what some folks think they are worth.

Good many politicians should print out the following in form of a small sign and put it on their desk so thy can look at it frequently in case their ego goes into overdrive and gets the best of them.

Exactly! 100% correct. Complete BS.
Making him unsuitable for other posts as well. Has to be a team player.
“Christie was livid, right?” the man said at one point. “Yeah,” Manafort replied.”
We’re supposed to believe some third hand information. This is getting silly.
Trump needed a contrast. Pence is a stolid Midwestern conservative, very laid-back, and does not seem to need to prove himself.
If he wasnt picked, Mike would NEVER make statements Christie made....about "coming in second" stuff.
I like thinking about bombastic, boisterous Donald surrounded by beautiful women....cause you just know married Mike probably never looked at another woman salaciously in his whole life.
I have doubts about the story’s veracity. More disinfo generated by Team Crooked.
