Prior to announcing Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump had narrowed the VP field down to the Indiana governor, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Gov. Chris Christie.
While Gingrich seems to have been a good sport about Trumps ultimate decision to go with Pence, according to the Weekly Standard, Christie was livid.
While minding my own business at the Starbucks inside the Westin hotel this morning, I saw a man engage Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort in conversation about the VP selection process. The man, whom I couldn't identify, suggested that Pence was a smart pick and Gingrich would've been a disaster.
"Christie was livid, right?" the man said at one point. "Yeah," Manafort replied.
In an interview with MSNBC on Thursday, Christie did say he would be upset if he didnt end up getting picked.
"I mean, obviously, I'm a competitive person. So I'm not going to say it won't bother me, if I'm not selected. Of course it bothers you a little bit. 'Cause if you're a competitive person, like I am, and you're used to winning, like I am — again, you don't like coming in second, ever," the governor told Nicolle Wallace.
Get over yourself Chris
He didn’t come in second. He came in third.
We need Chris as AG.
A lot of people presently in big offices in DC need to go to jail.
if Christie is livid about not being trumps running mate that tells me he is someone I don’t want anywhere near the presidency.
I think Christie is going to be A.G. This media crap is for the birds...to bad that they have so many people ‘brain washed’ that's why I don't listen to them...
Just listened to the interview. Doesn’t sound livid (or pre-livid) to me.
Chris Christie is more anti-gun than just about any other Republican. In fact, he's probably more anti-gun than Harry Reid and Bernie Sanders. I wouldn't want this guy as AG when any firearms related issue comes up.
He's fine for NJ, because that's about as far to the Right as that state is going to get, so that's where he can stay.
In his next life, Christie needs to behave so that the Media cannot gin up even a ‘whiff of scandal’ about him. But for now, he needs to behave himself and support whatever Trump does, if he wants to be AG.
He might not have been, but the media speculated that he would be.
Poor big baby (literally and figuratively) didn’t get his way, so he throws a temper tantrum. He’s acting like the liberal he is deep down inside.
Right, and EVERYTHING the media twits say is GOSPEL????
Really, turn off the t.v.; radio and Glen Beck and this nation would be a lot better off...
Remember, the narrative is Trump does not know what he’s doing and the republican party is not together. Anything the media can do to twist it to match that narrative.
Perhaps Trump will choose him for the office
And after he made himself look like a public doofus and everything!
Kissing The Donalds ass in public does not automagically get you goodies- NOTED~! (and appreciated)
He put away more than 130 major crime figures in NJ when he was a US Attorney.
We’ll keep guns off his agenda, as Trump is a yuuge supporter of the 2nd Amendment, unlike most in the GOP Congress.
Christie would have been a terrible VP choice. I do think he would be effective as AG.
