The GOP nominee surges while Hillarys stock seeks bottom.
Trump hit two home runs this week. The first, immediately following the horrific terrorist truck attack in Nice, was his statement in a media interview that if elected he would ask Congress for a declaration of war to combat global terrorism. The second was the inspired selection of Indiana governor Mike Pence to join the GOP ticket. Before getting to Pence, let me linger a moment on Trumps declaration-of-war pronouncement.
For well over a year I have argued for a Washington wake-up call whereby the president and Congress enact a formal declaration of war against ISIS and all other Islamic jihadist terror groups. These groups have declared war on us. We have yet to respond.
Following the tragic terrorist attacks in Paris late last year, French president Francois Hollande declared war on ISIS. It was an act of courage. But France had to go it alone.
France has been an American ally for about 250 years. It is a key member of NATO. But President Obama never stood shoulder to shoulder with Hollande and asked for a declaration of war against ISIS. Nor did he use American clout for a NATO declaration of war.

Trumps second home run was his selection of Mike Pence as his running mate. Down through the years, as a leader of the conservative House Republican Study Committee and later as the third-ranking member of the House Republican leadership team, he stood firm as a genuine and consistent conservative. On economic policy Pence has held to the key building block of growth. He is a budget hawk who voted against President George W. Bushs fiscally bloated No Child Left Behind education bill and hyper-expensive Medicare prescription-drug bill. He said he would not support new middle-class entitlements.

Correct.
IIRC, Trump’s tax plan was designed largely by Art Laffer. And Laffer is for a gold standard.
For decades, “conservative” has been defined, not by idess, but by having some kind of connection with the Reagan and Bush administrations. That’s over. All those people are dead, retired, or rejected. Trump is more conservative, overall, than the lot of them.
My wishlist: Trump elected, Bergoglio retired.

Yes, Present Perfect.
I'm curious. Who was your top choice for the Trump VP?
And yes, I like the Pence choice. He was my number 1. Gingrich was my second choice.
The are certain legal and civil considerations for a formal DoW that can cause problems. A DoW has not been declared since WWII. It triggers all sorts of legal clauses, e.g. in contracts and insurance policies, many of which will not pay out during a declared war. This is part of the reason why the Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Gulf Wars all used an Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) instead. An AUMF has fewer undesirable side effects.
Declaring war on ISIS and terrorism is also declaring war on the American legal profession that wants the situation to remain a law enforcement problem
Breitbart (h/t Emma) Last year, Obama directed his administration to accept at least 10,000 Syrian refugees over the course of this fiscal year (but has since raised it to 100,000). However, Clinton said that Obamas plan did not go nearly far enough Clinton called for a 500% increase to Obamas refugee resettlement operation.
Elect Hillary and we are done for.
.
While this is a good first step, history shows us that it will eventually have to be a declaration of war against all of Islam. Islam is what produces these groups and that will never change. Only the names of the terror groups will change while the ideology remains the same.
“Dont fool yourself currently France is a very bad ally BUT USA is also a bad ally since you have obama.”
I find no fault in your posts. I must agree with your comments. The French have been unjustly ridiculed for too long for political and military failures for which the US, too, has been guilty. More Frenchmen died in Vietnam during their Indochina War in the 1950s than Americans suffered in ours in the 1960s. The French took heavy losses fighting the Muzzies in Algeria and West Africa in the 1960s and much later, while we propped up illegitimate Moslem fiefdoms all over the Middle East. The French were right beside us when the barracks bombing happened in Lebanon in 1983. The French have shown themselves to be willing to actually fight and die on the battlefield with the US through the years, like the British have done. The French governments may have been craven through the years, but isn’t it time for the American people to admit the same thing about our own thoroughly corrupt and tyrannical regimes we’ve foisted on ourselves and on the world? Like Trump has said, “We don’t win anything anymore.”
Actually it was a hat trick with the statement “We are the Law and Order Candidates”.
When trump was interviewed with pence by a liberal deadbeat she asked so you will go to war, he sed no I will win
a by product about the "declaration of war against ISIS and all other Islamic jihadist terror groups" is the fact that this should automatically solves the ME colonization/invasion of america.
didn't see any german, japanese, or viet namese immigrating during those wars did ya? and nobody was bitchin about it.
National Review is dead to me....
They’ve shown their colors....
They could write fantastic and Yuge articles about Trump and they still would be dead to me..
VP is a very important pick, considering Trump is 70. They must have strong Constitutional Conservative values as well as Judaeo-Christian morals.
You may not remember when JFK was assassinated we ended up with LBJ and the Great Society experiment Social spending. Lady Bird’s freeway wild flower program which was MILLIONS still in effect today. When Nixon resigned we ended up with a do noting Gerald Ford.
We thought Slick was bad Prince Albert was a eco KOOK.
DUMBO’s Biden has Foot in Mouth Disease for stupidity.
And the VP usually ends up running for President! So pick wisely.
I can still see that picture of Newt sitting with Pelosi.
Newt is a CFR NWO Globalist. We’re very lucky he chose Pence instead of him.
