It is my assumption that anyone criticizing Mr. Pence would never have voted Republican anyway.

Personally, I like the fact that Mr. Pence did pretend the unique dining options of New York matter to him, when they obviously don't. I certainly don't see how his being a poseur would help the campaign.

Don't make that assumption. Some of us are just trying to help him and give him good advice. I'm sure Mike Dukakis would have appreciated somebody telling him it was a bad idea to get into that tank. My advice to Pence for next time he's in the city is to go to a working class pub like the O'Hara's Pub I mentioned earlier that is a 9/11 shrine. That gives him the "everyman" cred that should help him with NYC voters. I'm not talking a 4-star "striped pants" restaurant with 7 courses. That would not be good either as it would portray Pence as a typical upper crust country club Republican. There are thousands of places here in the city where working class and middle class people go and it's not that expensive.

But we all might be making a mountain out of a molehill. I believe on the campaign trail, Trump himself will occasionally stay at a budget hotel chain like Hampton Inn or Marriott Courtyard. I think Trump even ate at an Applebees and ordered his steak well done. So what do I know.
