I was at Wheelus AB Libya, North Africa in 1969 when Gadaffi staged his coup.
Hey bro, I was at Diyarbakir/Pirinclik 81-82. Merhaba!
This exact same thing happened in the late 70s in Turkey, and our nukes there were essentially seized by the Turks for a period during martial law crackdown on PKK terrorists.
Lots of heavy lift stuff -- some C-17s and at least one C-5. Four fighters on deck, 2 f-16s taxiing and two more on the runway. One good-sized drone visible -- [and one odd little duck on static display]... '-)
There are significant munitions storage faciities visible -- but, I don't see too much indication of security. :-(
The good news is there appears to be a whole squadron of A-10s -- which, if employed properly, could play havoc with any ground assault..
I was doing instrument flight approaches at Incirlik, but I also remember doing them for Diyarbakir, Balikesir, Bandirma, Cigli, Erhac, Erkilet, Konya, Merzifon, and maybe others I can't remember.
Wheelus must have really sucked. I was at Mountain Home at the time of the coup, but I would guess that Wheelus was worse than Incirlik.
Heck, some are stored in non hardened facilities. Don’t ask don’t tell.
Looks like base has a perimeter road all the way around. A wall or line of trees on top side of image. Or is that a river or creek ? Interesting posts about deaths and numerous new commanders. US also pulled many personal from Turkey a couple months ago.
Nope they are not..... hanger vaults are hardened, igloos are hardened. Soft mode for a special weapon is in transport either over the road in a SST or by Air ...
What are you referring to as non hardened facilities ?
Best not to discuss. But think back to when B52s were loaded and ready to take off in 15 minutes. Related to that type of logistics.
I truly fear that the muzzie in the white hut is going to do America in on this one!
Fortunately, I now think I see some guard towers (aka "RPG targets") along that perimeter.
I'm hoping all that plowed area between the fence and the MBunkers is heavily mined...

Knowing what is in the White Hut, all that recent changeover of command scares me (w)itless!!!
Great points. All that should be done, and would be done if Trump was president. But we have a prezzy that thinks there is no such think as a radical Islamist. Zero Hedge has an image showing Hitler next to Erdogan. Could be his son.
All these people replaced last month? Well how convenient. Guess they weren’t on board with Erdogan and Obama.
Obama is trying to prop up erdogan, who is necessary tothe destruction of Europe. He allows ISIS fighters and refugees to pass through his country freely. And The Turkish military tried to stop the flow and further ISlamification of the Turkish Government.
Obama supports Erdogan.Thats why we have such a turn over of US military command.....most how have been moved in are Muslim supporters within our US military.
This is very bad. Erdogan would be gone but for Obama, and Erope spared.
I expect the Russions and Iran to now support the Turkish Resistance to Erdogan.
Obama is on the worng side for his own nefarious ends: The Post Colonial Destruction of Europe.
“The Turkish government has closed its airspace to military aircraft, and as a result air operations at Incirlik Air Base have been halted at this time. U.S. officials are working with the Turks to resume air operations there as soon as possible. In the meantime, U.S. Central Command is adjusting flight operations in the counter-ISIL campaign to minimize any effects on the campaign. U.S. facilities at Incirlik are operating on internal power sources and a loss of commercial power to the base has not affected base operations.”

Wow. Commander of Incirlik air base, Gen. Bekir Ercan Van, is now under arrest - along with 11 more base soldiers - for complicity in coup.”
That’s the Turkish commander BTW.
No explosions or gunfire at Incirlik, my butt. Wow.
