I think a clever military general would have arranged for Erdogan to be arrested as the first step of a coup....like they demonstrated in Egypt. These idiots didn’t read the rules on coups.

Back in the day, I was for going into Iraq, thinking that the “most educated progressive secular/Moslems” in Saddam’s Iraq were the only chance to create a state that might stem the tide of the fundamentalist Mohammedans and prevent the death that inevitably comes from their expanding world of bullsh*t . Well it’s long been apparent that there weren’t enough secular-minded Iraqis to stem the tide... we paid dearly to buy a few years but that is all... that region is cursed.

There were a number of uprisings that took place in Iraq after the First Gulf War. For whatever reason, the West never encouraged them and Saddam Hussein put down every one of them. Some of the uprisings were pro Kurd and pro West and once they were put down, not many folks were left to organize any kind of resistance in the future.
Methinks Obama will fake a coup here in America. I might even bet hard money on it. A successful failed coup.
