Indiana Gov. Mike Pence would bring constitutional fidelity, conservative credentials, traditional faith, foreign policy, Washington know-how, and a calm, steady, Midwestern demeanor to a national ticket with Donald Trump, boosting the New York businessman with several types of voters that may prove to be the key to building an electoral coalition that could propel Trump into the White House.
...
Pence began as an outsider who served 12 years in Congress and rose to leadership.
Pence was an Indiana talk show host who took on the party establishment to get into Congress. Once there, he was regularly a thorn in the establishments side, routinely opposing the go-along-to-get-along establishment playbook. But he did so as a happy warrior who kept disagreement focused on policies, while being friendly and personable with his opponents.
Over time, Pence became very popular among conservatives, and effective at communicating a conservative message through the national media. He was elected the chairman of the Republic Study Committee (RSC), the organization for stalwart conservatives in the U.S. House so that they could coordinate their efforts to maximize conservative outcomes. (Over time it became cool to join the RSC, and with the influx of moderates it became both larger and less conservative. That led to the creation of the House Freedom Caucus in 2015, filling the same role originally performed by the RSC.)
Pence repeatedly opposed George W. Bushs proposals to expand government. When Republicans lost the U.S. House in 2006, Pence took the ultimate anti-establishment step of running against John Boehner to be the leader of House Republicans. He lost that bid, but garners almost 30 voters against the future Speaker, making a name for himself as someone willing to oppose anyone who Pence believed would not lead as a conservative.

From what I see here is what Pence would bring:
***
Pence would more likely bring in voters like my dad.
My father loathes Hillary, but he’s bought into the MSM propaganda about Trump, and told me that they’re both terrible and that Trump is a moron. He liked Jeb! of all people in the primary. Yuck!
Of course, I attempted to argue Trump’s positives, but he just does NOT want to hear, cutting me off with, “You’re not going to change my mind.” I suppose he either doesn’t want to change his mind, or it’s just because he changed my diapers 30 years ago and can’t get over that.
I love and respect my dad, but we got into a rather intense fight when he said that about me. Drives me nuts sometimes. But at least he’s not as bad as the rest of my immediate family who have been known to try to publicly shame me for my politics.
Anyways, enough about my woes for the moment. I can imagine that there are a fair number of voters out there who know that Hillary is bad, but swallowed the propaganda about Trump. These are the people that the Pence pick is aiming for, IMHO.
Correction: Dad and I got in a fight when he said that TO me.
You know, we kind of laugh at the how silly and blatant the media bias sounds, but there two things to keep in mind:
1) Old people, like your father (and my father), TOTALLY EAT THAT UP.
2) Others claim to be on to them...and then parrot their talking points.
I don’t know which one is scarier.
My sympathies with the know-nothings in your family.
I can only quote Scripture which certainly applies to you in this case:
“A prophet is without honor in his own home”.
Trump is going to win this thing, and that means WE win this thing. And so does our Nation.
The dems would call her a token...
...do you not agree?
I suspect that’s nothing compared to what they’ll say about Pence.
No.
You tarred ALL us ‘old people’ with a broad brush.
He’d be a good body double for Trump almost. That’s a big issue.
Also Hillary has a bunch of east coast playboys, a Mexican & Pocahontas to choose from. Very weak in the rustbelt.
You need to CALM DOWN.
After that you need to LOOK UP the word: Generalization.
There is a REASON why CBS kept Dan Rather around in 2004 (after Rathergate), even though we were all laughing at him here: It was because there are MILLIONS OF OLD PEOPLE (no, not every old person, again look up the word: Generalization) that STILL BELIEVED that asshole and likely would have not voted for Kerry had he admitted he that what he pushed as a total lie.
Again, CALM DOWN first, then look up the word:GENERALIZATION.
Also stop being so paranoid - we’re not all thinking about you when we post here.
Pence is a Christian and a proud Reaganite.
Is he perfect? No. Has he made errors? Yes.
But I just want an honest and decent person as VP. It has been far too long since we had that.
I'll take your advice.
But; before you post something like, "Old people, like your father (and my father), TOTALLY EAT THAT UP. "
...look up the word: Generalization
Ok, I hear you, but since I didn’t address my initial comment to you, PLEASE, how about next time letting us all know that you’re out there looking to be offended - so we don’t hurt your feelings.
Then you should have send your comment via PRIVATE REPLY.
By placing it in the open thread; ANYONE can comment back to you.
I do; however; like your doubling down and now tripling down to keep from saying, "Yes; I could have been a bit more clear."
I guess if you’re that WOUND UP here, we’ll all have to tolerate your unprovoked outbursts.
That’s fine, we’ll just ignore you, for now on.
I agree. People are trying to concern troll about Mike Pence going for world domination when they get rid of Trump somehow.
