You misunderstand. The civil war will be between the government and the so-called “extreme right”.
You don’t think the government would take sides in hostility between two segments of the population? If so, what side would it take?
I’ve had similar thoughts. I guess the “civil” part is the Vichy govt realizing that the peasants are also on the verge of coming after them with pitchforks and rakes.
