My BIL was born and raised in Turkey. He came here to study Mechanical Engineering in Michigan, He is now a loyal American citizen. Great husband to my Sister, great Dad to my niece. He was raised in an upper class Turkish family. They actually own the home of The Whirling Dervishes! But he’s not very religious. But still a ‘social” Muslim. I’ve never seen him pray. He’s a mechanical engineer, and has built a great company that makes diamond tooling for the aerospace industry, both commercial and governmental. He’s the kind of immigrants we need!
Several years ago, I brought up the subject of Jihadis. He went nutz! He calls them all criminals just using Islam as a ruse. Man! He got mad! He and his friends hate Erdogan.
There are many who contribute through legal immigration, but statistically these are not the refugees we are receiving now. Furthermore, one cannot be Christian and not feel sorry for many of the refugees who are fleeing Obama and Hillary’s Arab Spring event in the Middle East.
I think the answer is simple - create a safe place for them to be taken care of until the chaos settles. Awarding them citizenship for this largely Western led Arab Spring massacre is not the answer.
