It also encourages the teaching of the Bible in public schools because, the amendment said, a good understanding of its contents is indispensable for the development of an educated citizenry.
Additional provisions included those that promoted state laws to limit which restrooms transgender people could use, nodded to conversion therapy for gays by saying that parents should be free to make medical decisions about their children without interference and stated that natural marriage between a man and a woman is most likely to result in offspring who do not become drug-addicted or otherwise damaged.

Actually, this is the best argument of all. My original take was too narrow. The Feds do not belong in education. Period. That would solve everything.
Get the States out of education. Privatize education. It's far too important to let government of any sort continue screwing it up.
Talk to someone who is not a native speaker of English.
Particularly if they came from a non-Christian culture.
They are bombarded constantly with idioms from the Bible
which confuse the hell out of them.
Wait, I’m not sure I get your reference?
It's hard to imagine biology taught without evolution by teachers who believe and worship at the alter of evolution while using text books written by authors with the same evolution religion.
Examine Abeka curricula to see how refreshing a text book written by Christians can be. It's an amazing thing.
No, it goes to middle America and what made America great
You know what? I’ll believe it when I see it — and I don’t mean a new party-platform, but the party itself standing for its platform... after all, how has the Republican party done on fiscal responsibility or respecting the constitution as the supreme law or even repealing ObamaCare like we were promised multiple times?
For example, every school child knows that an imaginary God did not create giraffes with long necks. As the primitive animal evolved over millions of years, it wanted to be able to eat the green leaves higher up on the trees so each generation grew longer necks.

Are you a conservative, or a troll? Or just stupid? Just taking the issue of the Bible: it is one of the founding documents of Western Civilization, and you think presenting it to public school students as such is wrong?
But a Democrat agenda that embraces free college, free health care, unchecked immigration, massive debt, a weak military, reverse racism, men-as-women, infanticide, and buggery is not “far to the left.”
I guess it’s hard to smell the stench when you’re used to standing in the middle of the cesspool.
Tangledupblue is an idiot or a troll.
“It also encourages the teaching of the Bible in public schools because, the amendment said, a good understanding of its contents is indispensable for the development of an educated citizenry.”
Well, basic knowledge of the Bible is indispensable if we want to produce educated people. The Bible is the bedrock document that the entirety of Western Civilization rests on, if you don’t have at least basic familiarity with it, you can’t rightly claim to be educated (at least as far as Westerners are concerned).
You don’t need to “teach religion” in order to teach people about the Bible. After all, teaching people about ancient Greek mythology in schools does not mean we are teaching them to worship Zeus and Athena.
Can’t be just right, always FAR right. Ought to make a new word “faright.” Definition: anything not far left.
“You dont need to teach religion in order to teach people about the Bible. After all, teaching people about ancient Greek mythology in schools does not mean we are teaching them to worship Zeus and Athena.”

Exactly! In our High School English class the teacher got a number of Gideon Bibles and we read a significant percentage of it for background on so much of the literature that came afterwards. If you don’t know the Bible, so much of Western literature is hard to fathom.
I’m not a fan of your word choice (I don’t like to give fodder to the opposition), but content-wise, this is the best post yet.
I am totally in favor of getting the government out of the schools. You are exactly right. They have made a mess of education. Not only have they totally politicized it, but they have failed to teach the basics.
Getting the government out of education is regarded as an “extreme” position by nearly 100% on the left and a surprisingly large number on the right. It is important to explain to these people that being against government education is not the same as being against education. This is a point that most fail to grasp. Perhaps because of their government education?
“but keeping religion out of school is a good thing”
No such thing. They teach atheism now.
"The platform demands that lawmakers use religion as a guide when legislating, stipulating that man-made law must be consistent with God-given, natural rights.
