I’m in Texas, so my vote is rather moot. I wanted somebody who’d offset some of the wariness I still feel towards Trump. Trump represents my political stances MUCH moreso than any other candidate in a generation. I should be his biggest booster, because I’m all in line with everything from the populist revolt against the establishment, to the breaking of the cultural stranglehold of PC, and so far, Trump has been the only one to even make a dent in this. Yet there remains some skepticism because of my doubts over his background, character, and personality. And ultimately his sincerity. Doubts which are further fueled by his weakenss on social issues.

I was hoping for someone that would make me feel more confident towards the ticket. Pence does the exact opposite for me. A true enthusiasm-killer.

For me, Pence adds no excitement. I don’t love him, but I don’t hate him either. The thinking with Pence, per CNN, is that he tosses out a line to social conservatives and party establishment types (CNN laughably cites Paul Ryan) who doubt Trump is conservative. Will he excite the party brass into accepting Trump? It remains to be seen. Honestly, I don’t think Trump has to get the full party brass behind him. He ran as anti-establishment, and that is a drawing card.

Someone posted to me that Pence vetoed the Religious Freedom thing because he was afraid it would go to the Supreme Court and become another Roe vs. Wade type case. I don’t know enough to know whether or not that is true. I just remember being disappointed and shocked when he vetoed.
