As anticipation builds for Donald Trump to name his vice presidential pick, two hopefuls -- Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- appear to be the front-runners, according to a person familiar with the deliberations...

"It feels like Pence. But (Trump) likely wants to see the reaction tonight," a separate source familiar with the selection process told CNN..

Fox News said Tuesday it is suspending Gingrich's contract since the former speaker is also on Trump's vice presidential short list...

Trump can’t pick Newt. He is one of the godfather’s of Free trade. It would be silly to pick him as VP with Trump’s current stand on NAFTA, free trade, and such.

He should have a rose ceremony at the convention to pick the one from a line up

In these racist times, I am rethinking Dr. Carson. VP slot not super critical. Trump would have a lot of others to draw upon for legislative guidance. What do you think?

If it’s down to Newt or Pence, I’ll hope for Newt.

I’d be happy with Pence. Don’t know much about him.

Honestly, any of the three would do just fine

They all are qualified in one way or another

Its not like any of them are a “Biden”

Newt’s got a lot of negatives, but I have to admit that part of me would like to see him picked. The smartest pick would be Sessions IMO, but Newt would be fun to watch.

I agree.

Many do not know that Pence is pro-life, too.

Trump-Santorum makes more sense than all of these mentioned combinations.

Gingrich can think on his feet.
They can’t Quayle him.
He would cripple the opponent in the veep debate.

It’s a given, the veep candidate will be attacked. I’d rather one attacked for experience than inexperience, for brains rather than supposed lack of brains.

He’s in better health than Dick Cheney, who is still breathing 16 years after they said he was too old and sick.

And if Newt’s too old to be the successor, who cares? The veep spot isn’t the only nursery of presidents.

Trump’s biggest challenge will be getting his agenda through Congress. Newt seems the logical choice.

Yup. Gingrich as Chief of Staff. Most people are clueless as to how close that person is to the Prez as his advisor.

I don’t trust Newt. I believe he is CFR. Plus, I can’t get that picture of him sitting and cozying up to Nancy Pelosi - I think he is a climate change pusher.

I totally agree. Pence is the GOPe candidate to the hilt—having pushed TPA/TPP last year. The year before he pretended to repeal common core by merely renaming it. And back in the day he pretended to be against amnesty while pushing touchback amnesty.

Tonight Pence sounded like the usual/GOP hack giving a generic and dull stump speech. Newt wasn’t my first pick but he is miles ahead of Pence or Christie as a choice.
