Machiavelli was intelligent and one might even say brilliant; Cruz is neither...he's just a slimy, nasty, spoiled bratish little boy in an adult's body.

He can try to play these games, but the more he does so, the more people find out about it and hate him even more! He has little chance in being re-elected, in '18, because most Texans have found out what a POS LIAR he really is!

He was intelligent and brilliant enough to fool me and lots of others for years, but you are right, he showed his true self during the election process. He is indeed all of the things you said, and even more.

However, if you look up the word Machiavellian, it is defined as follows: cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous, especially in politics or in advancing one's career.

To me, that describes Cruz to a tee.
