My daughter discovered Pokemon Go about 10 days ago.
Yesterday, I had to block her data access, because in just 10 days, she blew through all but 0.078GB of our family’s monthly 4GB shared data allotment.
I’d be willing to bet that a lot of these Pokemon Go players will get a large dollar shock on their next phone bill.
Was she downloading other things? I only ask, because my wife has it on her phone, and lets my daughter play. Granted, she's only played about an hour's worth or so of time, but the total data usage for my wife's phone is only about 1% of the total allotment. We don't do in-game purchases, and don't do updates, or downloads unless we're on Wi-Fi at home.
only if they aren’t on wifi and only using cellular data. A lot of the locations - such as libraries, etc that are set up as stops already have free wifi so in many cases they can limit their paid data usage.
Just remember - Michelle Obama 7 1/2 years with no impact on Childhood Obesity. Pokemon Go - 1 day with immediate impact on childhood obesity. :)
10 days ago? I don’t think it has even been out in the US for that long.
Daily use of it is a relatively small amount of data (like in the .01 mbs range). However, maybe she downloaded the app while away from an internet connection?.... I would recommend looking at the phone’s data tracking - see what actually ate up the data.
The game was released about 7 days ago. My kids and I play and we’ve actually had a decrease in our data usage (30 GB plan) this month. The game, surprisingly, uses very little data. I suspect it was something else she (or someone) was doing.
did she sart screaming?
