Scott Pelly dutifully performing his assigned duty of constructing a narrative blaming the NRA for the cop deaths.
BATF sells armor piercing bullets?
There’s no globalist agenda here...
I thought most of the officers were shot in the head.
That’s the first I knew that depleted uranium rounds were available to the public. Does Walmart have them? What calibers?
Too late. Been there done that.
Any rifle bullet will go right thru a vest only rated to stop handgun ammo.
This is the latest buzz word being pushed by anti-gunners.
He was using a Saiga (civilian AK-74). I have the same rifle. I don’t know if it was a 7.62x39 or not.
Well since it's an anchor for SeeBS demanding it, to hell with the laws and The Constitution, it must be right.
/Extreme Sarc.
Any rifle round will penetrate a cop’s vest which is designed for pistol rounds... I don’t think they wear plates on a day-to-day basis (or didn’t before this event).
If someone’s shooting at you with a high powered rifle, there is no body armor that’s going to help you.
Just trying to resurrect the old “Cop-Killer Bullet” mime.
Standard .222 soft nose will go through 1/4 inch steel plate just like a drill.
Stupidity piercing truth is what the left really needs to worry about.
“The depths of stupidity are apparently limitless.”
The sale of AP ammo for pistols HAS been banned.
However, when you are dealing with rifles you have a different story. First, rifles are held with 2 hands, meaning that they can be constructed to be much heavier than handguns. This means, among other things, that the action can (and usually is) built far more strongly than in a handgun...which means that the action can handle significantly higher pressure. Second, rifles have a longer barrel - significantly longer in almost all cases...which means higher velocity for the bullet as it exits the barrel. Thus, when you combine significantly higher pressures AND a longer barrel, you are dealing with MUCH higher velocities. The bottom line of all of this being very simple: protecting a person against a torso wound from a rifle is significantly more difficult than with a handgun. There are vests that can protect against penetration from rifle rounds, but even with normal FMJ bullets (which, for the uninformed, simply means that the lead bullets are coated in a very thin layer of copper to prevent both fouling of the barrel by soft lead, and also to prevent splattering of lead when the bullet hits the target), such protection requires both thicker Kevlar AND a ceramic or steel plate within the Kevlar vest. As such, the police officers in Dallas were probably equipped with vests that would have protected them against a torso shot with a pistol, NOT a rifle - firing NON-AP rounds.
Here’s a hint, Scotty: do some actual research into firearms and ballistics - then you might not sound like such an ignorant fool.
How does an idiot who knows nothing of firearms come to run a news organization?
Currently only AP above .22 caliber designed for use in handguns are illegal. The ATF ruled that steel core 7.63x39 as well as 7.62 NATO several were “handgun ammunition”years ago.
I know how kevlar works and a standard body armor vest doesnt stand a chance against it.
A Bolt if properly used, from in an Old Englih Lomg Bow or a Bolt from a Cross - Bow can not be stopped by even current body armor; unless you’re IRON = Man.
